Great all around game by the Hawks. I'm really looking forward to the next two games against the Lanche and Ducks. The Ducks are having a great season as well but because of the Hawks great start they are flying under the radar. I t should be a great game.

Stalberg does not have the flash of some other players on this team but he is a very solid player.

Rumors about his being traded before the deadline are curios. Solid players are really important and the Hawks should be careful not to act too quickly. Stalberg appears to be more valuable than his flash or numbers on the scoresheet.

JJ,
LMAO at the title. Although, last night did look a lot more like NHL 13 than a real game. That was the best I can recall seeing them over a full 60 minutes.

JJ,

Did you catch Hendricks yesterday for Caps? Fought Horton and McQuiad? Not sure of full context, but he laid the wood on Horton and then later Thornton was trying to goad him and went with McQuiad.

Not a heavy weight, but guy has some heart and skates very well too.

Think he would be a fine addition.

His line is really playing well too so I would hate to move him. I doubt that the Hawks will be active at the TDL. The only thing I can see them doing is trading prospects or draft choices to acquire depth type players.

Always room for a heart that big in a body that can play some.
Also tough not to be won over by Saad's and Stalberg's play.....better and better.
I never understood what a dreadful skater Hayes was without it being pointed out here.....not the kind of thing I can get from the traditional media. Appreciate it.

I loved last night more than any other game this year. Around 05-06, when bell, Calder, and Tyler arnason were our "hope", there were a 9-1 and 7-2 beatings at the hands of the stars. Loved being on the other side of it..

always enjoy your thoughts and analysis
Kanes play is sick. I was a long time ago a very good skater and his footwork is so amazing he makes that spin not only look easy but so smooth and it is anything but easy and then with the long forgotten wicked backhand OMG

Lastly and maybe it was me but I think Saad had a turning point where his two linemates seemed to embrace him and i saw what I thought was a realbonding going on. Saad seams to have figured out what his role is with those two and I think barring injury he is on the first to stay
What do you think or am I reading too much into it?

I think Saad's most impressive plays last night, were 2 very nice passes he had,one to Hossa and the other to Kane, along with his willingness to go to the front of the net and pick up his second assist by getting hit by the puck before it got to Toews...Still would like to see him be a bit more physical, and I think he is still clueless on the PK,but...I think in a year or two,he can be a 50-60point guy...that is what I think his ceiling ultimately is...I'm more worried about losing Stalberg next year, the kid has come along nicely, and the Hawks have found a perfect spot for him on the third line, though he could be easily playing 1st or second line minutes..but that 3rd line is just doing so good right now there isn't any point in breaking it up

dont know his topside and yes would like him to be more physical and that third line is a second at worst line
If the hawks had hendricks I would like to see him on the second line. What do others think. Do you have sharp or bolland center and then what?

second that move!!
i don't know about you guys but even though we put a beat down on those guys, i now have to believe that it is Q pulling in the reins on some of the tough stuff:
seabrooke gets his clock cleaned although the other kid got the drop on him, not 1 guy took it upon theirselves to send a message back in the third period to that little punkass! fricken Q should have sent bollig out there to send that message right back to that little turd! tell me would laviolette, julien, ruff, ect. handle it the same way?
i'm prepared to take flack over this but that pissed me off in a big way last night! wonder what Al Secord would have done? & Carbomb get back in the line up ASAP!

No, you want him 4th line and PK. This year he has gotten a cameo with Ovechkin and Ribero. he is a career 3rd 4th liner. That would be his job here.

I watch the caps a lot and what really sells me besides his toughness and face offs is that the guy skates very well. Very very well. And that is key to me in adding a guy to this mix.

Yesterday he fought Horton after Ribeiro was assaulted by marchand. He slipped on stick or probably would have knocked Horton out.

steve i would love to see him & carcillo on the same line! especially with a 7-1 lead and that little biotcharse rouesell on the ice in the 3rd last night!
man i wish the hawks were going to the east next year instead of staying in the west! then we could see more of the bruins, rangers, flyers, pen's, ect! it would force SB to re think his strategy!

I hear what your saying but I just dont like the second line makeup come playoff hockey to me they need a guy that can go into the corners and win puck battles

wonthecup I think bollig skated by their bench and told their team any bs and he comes and finds them
Give the guy credit he landed a big right before seabs saw it coming. Im surprised more guys dont do this when the other guy is trying to first grab the jersey

Let me get philosphical again here. When I met with Q over the summer, I explained to him that his matchup stategy was a waste of energy. That outside of 1 or two other teams, he has more talent then any team in the league. As such, there onus was on the other team to figure out how they would match up with us.

Along with that comes an overall change of philosophy. That is in life you either are the stimulus or the reaction. The last few years, as the team struggled for identity, they ran around trying to be all things to all people. This season they have embraced who they are and are not gonna react to much and allow opponents to think they can get under their skin.

To me this is a sign of maturity. It is fun to think and want retribution, but that just dumbs you down to your opponent. Seabs nailed the guy, he took exception, Seabrook answered the bell and had a bad fight. End of story.

BTW, of course I did not talk to Q, but I have wanted the team to adopt this higher concept philosophy for a few years now. Sure is fun watching them this year.
