I would think that it would be better for both the Flames and Iginla to go with Pittsburgh.
For the Flames, Pittsburgh's loads of defencemen prospects (Derek Pouliot, Joe Morrow, Olli Maatta, Scott Harrington) outweighs any prospects that you would get out of Boston (Spooner or Knight). And First round picks are basically equal between the two as both will probably be picking in the 25 to 30 range. And neither team is going to part with a top 6 forward or a top 4 defencemen as they would be making this trade to gear up for a cup run. Calgary does not need bottom 6 forwards. The have those in abundance.
For Iginla he would be going to Boston to probably play on the Third Line. It's hard to picture Boston breaking up the combinations of Kreiju/Lucic/Horton and Bergeron/Seguin/Marchand. Their top 6 is very solid so Iginla would be going there to get to play with Rich Peverly, Dan Paille, and Greg Campbell.
With Pittsburgh, they really have currently have 5 solid top 6. Crosby and Malkin at center, then Neal, Kunitz, and Dupius on the wings. There is an obvious spot there for Iginla where he will get to play with Malkin or Crosby.
Aside from the Cup, thoe only thing missing from Iginla's career has been to skate with a legitimate number 1 center. He gets that in Pittsburgh.

if iggy decided to wave to come to mtl you know hed be welcomed and I'm sure theres a few guys wed glsdly give up to bring a class act like that. I couldnt think of a better guy to help bring the cupback to mtl. wow. we can dream eh. plus hes staying in canada!!
I'd offer moen beaulieu and a 2nd for iggy. if bealuieu doesnt get it done, tomorrow against newjersey take alook at tinordi. the guy is tough like his dad and brings a charra type feel to the back end.
what would u guys ask for? |

Dude I think it's more Pitt who needs help on D, not Boston. I thought the B's were looking for another scoring winger? - whipper334
Yes thank you...I mixed the two up! |

I think there's a deal to be made with the Habs, depending on what Calgary's looking for. We've got some solid D prospects, most notably Nathan Beaulieu, to package with the inevitable 1st rounder that Iggy will command from the Flames. Maybe even Yannick Weber as the cherry on top to help Calgary's PP.
That said, I'm not at all familiar with Calgary's organizational needs, so maybe I'm way off here. |

To Calg: 1st, Spooner and Warsofsky
Boston obviously gets the scoring help and added leadership we need. Calgary gets a 1st, a future #2 Center and a solid defender who can play the 5/6 role. |

I don't care who else but we want Prusty back! F'n Sutter and his stupid trades... |

I posted this on the last post before I realized this was up. So I wanted to re-post because I think it is an important discussion as it could effect future moves. Sorry, Colin if this disrupts your blog.
The NCAA free agents are starting to become available. I know Clouts lobbied for DeKeyser. I hope Feast is looking at him as well but I think I would be more interested in Andrej Sustr. A right shooting 6'8" monster with more of a defensive game I think. He would probably fit our group better I think. |

I also feel like Jarome Iginla is literally the one player in the NHL that every single fan can agree on. |

That's pretty much the deal i think the Flames could get for Iggy, and i would be fine with it.
Lebrun on TSN last night said he thought Bernier for Iggy +? I don't get the +?

The B's need depth. Ference is not doing so well + 1 injury the top 4 and they're (frank)ed

I think he goes to Boston also. Sounds like they might not re-sign Horton for next year, Iggy would be a good replacement.
I think Gio would be going to Pittsburgh

Yeah that would be my second guess heading to PIT
If they could swing a deal for both of them, they would be set |
