IF they could sign him it would be a second major coup...

It would go a long way to helping. I dont think top guys are available by trade unless you way over pay and the Oilers dont have enough assets to over pay.

Might be a good pick up for you guys. However, you need more experience in the lineup, not more youth.

Speaking of youth, your infatuation with it is gonna land you on to catch a predator Richard.

I don't want to see Stewart go but it sounds like the Blues cant afford to keep him. So many RFA's due big money. Kinda sucks. Hope they work it out to keep them all.

I like the sound of him although I haven't seen him play. With Petry also being young I would like to see the oilers deal our excess and sign one decent player. Someone like future UFA Mark Striet.

Playoffs of not, I think you trade Whitney. He has an offensive side but he is too much of a defensive liability. I like Peckham better as a 7th guy. Again there are rentals like Striet to be had that might stay long term with the team as well.

However all this is moot if we don't do something about our goaltending. Unless the other team agrees to play "posts" we need to trade Dubnyk to someone like NYI or PHO (both teams are losing their goalies to UFA in the offseason) for anything and grab a rental backup. Maybe even one of theirs as a rental.

So Choked. I was hoping it would be something like "Katz runs out of Meds, comes to senses and skids the entire management" or "Lowe, seen in unemployment line after Black mail photo's found to be nothing but a Hoax"

Oh well. Maybe next year.

Yeah the blues got talent to spare. I think any of their cast offs would fit somewhere. Stewart would work best as we need the size though.

You are a bit behind on the times. Stewart did indeed show up to camp out of shape... last year. This year he was in the best shape of his life and one of the more fit on the team, according every single local Blues reporter. And by that I mean both of them.

If Blues are forced to give someone up based on money, I would expect it to be someone easier to replace like Perron, than Stewart, unless we get a really good deal for Stewart.

I heard today that Deksayer is looking to sign in the West. So the Oilers do have a chance.

heard pietrangelo seeking doughty paycheck figures, berglund seeking backes figures, and shattenkirk seeking $4-5m per. do you think these players on your team is worth it for those amounts? if they all get those numbers, stewart will have to go or someone will.

US College UFA that can sign with anyone. Bunch of them have the opportunity to sign with NHL teams right away. DeKeyser is a Junior, so he could go back to college one more year, but every team in the league wants to bust him out now.

Sounds like a decent prospect.. Once he grows into his frame, he'll be a big body to have out there.. In all seriousness, what are the chances he signs, and do we give him the max entry??

They can, and still sign Stewart for 4mil, and still have 10mil in cap room. McDonald coming off the books.

That would still put them only 5 million or so over their budget this year. And if they start losing players for money issue, it will cost them that in fan support. So... not really an issue here.

DeKeyser might be the best UFA from college but not the best defenseman this year:

Nick Jensen Tabbed as WCHA Defensive Player of the Year by League's Head Coaches and an All-WCHA First Team.

The league's 12 head coaches voted St. Cloud State defenseman Nick Jensen as the WCHA Defensive Player of the Year.
