I have a strange feeling its going to be a dissapointing trade deadline for Calgary.......meaning nothing is happening........i hope I am wrong.

Also, what the heck is the difference between a "modified NTC and a limited NTC"?

The number of teams the player is allowed to give on a list to the GM he's willing to be traded to.

I'm not on the "Lose to Win" bandwagon. GFG! We are winning 3-0 tonight. Kipper in for his first shutout of the year.

That being said, from your list, i'd like them to make some trades to get Stewart, Ovi and Statsney (SOS). . . I dont' care what we have to give up!

Edit:
Iginla and Baerchi for Stewart and good prospect.
Kipper + Geo and 2nd round draft pic for Ovi and AHLer
GlenX and Backlund for Statsney and nhl ready prospect

LOL....Hartley won't even announce Kipper is the starter? WTF?

Anyways, not a bad little list, some a little more far-fetched than others but that's the way she goes.

I would like to see the Flames go after Dougie Hamilton. I could see a Iggy + Gio for Hamilton and a First type of deal. Also maybe Gardiner out of T.O.? Iggy for Gardiner? Other than that the Flames need some big/good centermen....I think the only way this is going to happen is through the draft...

Statsny is the next Gomez.

Iggy AND Baertschi for Stewart and a prospect? Are you kidding?

Ovechkin for Kipper, Gio and a 2nd? Washington would hang up immediately.

I really think J-Bo has the most value on that list.

Listening to Ken Holland on the FAN this morning, he couldn't stress enough about the importance of a minute eating defenseman.

J-Bo is playing very well right now, obviously plays a ton of minutes and maybe most importantly, does not get hurt.... ever!

1 more year at $6.6M is pretty easy to swallow when you are likely going to get 82 games out of him.

It would be a sham if the Flames asked Glencross to waive is NMC clause after he took a pretty hefty home town discount on the last contract.

Spooner is a decent prospect but I don't know why Calgary would specifically target him.
He comes up in trade talks a lot because he is what Boston has to offer back in return for a rental. If I we're Calgary I would ask for more back than spooner in return to use Iginla as a rental if Calgary goes into sell mode.

I'd be targeting Subban from Boston before Spooner as a top prospect, and also a nice future replacement for Kipper.

"Given that it is my job to care for every facet of the Calgary Flames team just like the day I stood up in front of my family and said “I do”, I will write through the thick and thin and try to keep things optimistic even in bad times like these."

It's all perspective as to what is considered optimism. I'm trying to be optimistic that CGY brass will do the right thing and send Iggy to a contender and we will purge a little and get some strong future pieces.

Pittsburgh would give up Kennedy in a trade for Iginla, but there's no way they're parting with Sutter. He was a key piece in the Staal trade, and a key center in the Pens current system. There's no way they will trade him for a rental.

I think it would be Kennedy and a Defenseman Prospect (Maatta or Morrow). Maybe even Despres, judging by the way that Bylsma plays him. I personally don't understand how this kid keeps getting scratched night after night, but what the hell do I know...

It should be interesting to see where Iginla goes before the deadline. I'd welcome him in Pittsburgh, but not at too high of a cost. The Pens need defense more than offense. Sure Iginla brings grit, and leadership, and would be one hell of a presence in the locker room and on the bench, but I just think the price is way too high for Pittsburgh.

When did we become a franchise with meddlesome ownership?

Was it always like that, and just kept quiet or is this a new thing with Edwards succeeding Hotchkiss as the face of ownership?

Either way, it's a recipe for disaster if GM doesn't have autonomy for hockey operations, as Feaster allegedly doesn't.

Should be a telling deadline.

Iggy to Pens would be nice, but I wonder about the need.. Although can't put a price in his intangible for a playoff run.

J-Bo...is he physical anymore? Net-front is the Pens need.

You can probably scratch Sutter from your returns list...especially after last night...doubt they deal Staals replacement.

WTF!!!! Why the hell would you trade BAertschi? Are you an Oilers fan in disguise???!! That would be terrible!! PLEASE NO OVI!!!! That contract is quickly becoming Yahinesque.

In fact, Colin, most of the players on your list I don't care for. I would go after Filpula at free agency but I wouldn't give up assets to sign a potemtial UFA.

The Flames actually have some decent goaltending prospects already in Laurent Brossoit and John Gillies. Also Ramo is supposedly coming over from Russia for next season (although the jury is still out on him). In any case, goaltending is the one area the Flames actually have some good prospects in.

I could see a trade with Pittsburgh, however i do not think it is Iggy. I have a feeling that the Pens are having a good look at Gio. What would it take to for the pens to get Gio. Does Matta and a 2nd do it.

I think we've finally reached the point where we can determine the root of the problem. Changes in personnel, new scouting, multiple coaches, multiple GM's, and it always seems like the Flames refuse to change directions. This speaks to the fact that someone else is probably pulling the strings.

kipper and gio and a second? for ovi and an ahler?/

cmon man... ovi is in a slump no question but the guy is a 60+ goal scorer! the guy still commans a huge return no matter who picks him up! it would take min a solid 3 players + propect and picks including a first.... ovi would be the guy you build the team around...sorry

secondly glenx is overated and backlund well hes backlund... stasny is another franchise player that you would have to pay huge for
