I remember last season when Gardiner was worth WAY UNBEFUK more than any of the Oilers young forwards.

How times change.

question for you clouts.... if you were to trade for Dipietro and pay the $36 million?

What would you expect to get back in return from Islanders....

Saying you don't hate horcoff only carries any clout when you don't make excuses for the avs goalie why he scores. The oil are winning with him in the line up. Just accept it dawg

Just to clarify, what you're suggesting is the Oilers to take Dipietro so they can do the compliance buyout thing with him...and in return, the Oilers would get something from the Islanders?

ive been one of the leaders of tambs making a move now, and am willing to deal the first.
but i dont think gardiner is worth what could be a top 5 pick.

we deal that asset (which is our most valuable by a good margin) id expect a true impact player that can step in and make a big difference. gardiner cant even crack the lineup

love to have jake, but not for that.

tyler myers? jay bouwmeester?

i also havent seen too many of these so called "horcoff is the greatest player ever" posts.
just that he makes us a better team. which he does

TOR needs depth and scoring to help in the playoffs. Trade Gagner for Gardnier and draft a big center ourselves with our pick.

Paajarvi gagner yak works fine by me if paajarvi can keep playing like this. Done with hating horc for his contract. Whether its just his leadership or effort on the ice. This is a better team with him. Not sold on how well we do with the second half of the season. Would like gardiner but 1st sounds too much.Say Jones a second and a conditional third if oil makes the playoffs

PPG centerman for AHL defenceman?

If this was last season maybe but its a "what have you done for me lately" league unless you're really in a position of strength to make deals your way. Which the Oiler's aren't really in.

Besides, what does it say to your guys who are busting their ass and sick of losing to trade the team MVP for someone who hasn't cracked the Leafs roster since coming back too soon from a concussion?

Oh boy, what adds up to $36millon?

First of all, for the NHL to accept the deal, the Oilers would actually be needing to move something to the Islanders. And the Oilers have a few assets/contracts/financial messes of their own they could dump. I'll suggest Shawn Horcoff because it's plausible. He's an actual player that the Islanders could use...so people would have a little less ability to question the validity of the deal. Plus, it removes $11mil in Oilers cap and $7mil in actual money.

So even if we get this to a $29mil buyout...man, the sale of Lindros involved, what, $15mil and a stack of players. Why would millionaire Katz willingly part with that much money unless John Tavares was coming back? And if the Islanders move Tavares, they might as well fold. He's the franchise.

Just to humor you, I'll throw out a package, and do this saying I completely doubt the league would allow it to happen because it's so obviously a clear attempt to dance around the CBA.

Horcoff, Belanger, Eager and Theo Peckham for Rick Dieptro, Ryan Strome and Travis Hamonic. And even at that, I think you might need to throw in Calvin de Haan or the Islanders 1st round pick too. $36mil is so much money.

hes only signed through next year.

the nuge, schultz, dubs dont need to be resigned till next year. yaks the year after.
whitney, khabby and smid all of the books this year too. plus we'd prob throw a dump in a deal too

so yeah, he would fit just fine.

Way to back track and say Horcoff will only be bought out if the Oilers can't afford him. Everyone else is also aware that Horcoff is a good third line center who is grossly over paid. There is 2 years for the compliance buy out correct? Obviously if the cap causes problems in the next 2 years Horcoff is an easy way to save money, but obviously having him in the line up the Oilers are a better team, regardless if it just because of depth. I don't think anyone would be against upgrading on Horcoff, but for now it is not a necessity.
The reason you hear about it so damn much is how you always present it, that you KNOW he will be bought out. When you state things as fact that you have no way of knowing, you are going to be called on it.

It was a rumour out of Toronto with someone with good sources... I am sure it will not happen however I wondered how you get Tavares out of the deal and what we would have to add.... To figure that out you need to figure out what taking the 36 million is worth

Don't be a spanner...I was blogging he was going to be bought out, because at the time, that's the information I had. A source called to inform me that the Oilers have backed off a bit and are now considering only buying out the last year of his deal, so I backed off my stance somewhat in my blogs. If the Oilers Now guy is saying on the air Horcoff is protected, I'll be forced to back off more, which I have.

Gagner is not the team MVP. The players understand this is a business and they get a good asset back that will help them win.

You said in multiple blogs that Horcoff will definitely be bought out at the end of this year.
Had you said, "I have heard"... or even "there is a good chance that"... But you set yourself up to hear about Horcoff mania.

and I am aware Horcoff will revert to Horchandsofstone soon, but until his contract gets in the way I stand by the fact he is a good 3rd line center and more effective than throwing another kid in the line up.
