"Can they stop the bleeding?"

Strong imagery around the idea that the Flyers are in a full hemorrhage. Will the patient bleed to death?

My thinking is that a very young Flyer team is experiencing a deep and nasty sophomore slump. Worst option is to make wholesale changes just for the sake of trying to shake things up.

Elite teams are built around 6 key positions. A #1 center who can control the offensive zone and play defense. A power forward who can work the boards and take a position in front of the net. A speed forward (burner) who can beat you wide and take a pass at full speed. A #1 Dman who can control the pace and play from the back end. A shut down Dman who can clear the front of the net. A world class goalie.

The Flyers already have most of the key pieces. They need to pay the price to get what is missing.

Honestly, I would hate to see anyone leave this team just to get a band-aid player to help the playoff push. The cap seems like it will be tricky enough for the Flyers to get compliant for next year's season. Maybe a little patience really would be best here. There is no question that Defense will have to be addressed before next season though.

#1 D man. This would be an altogether different team if Pronger were there. There last pairing is abysmal. And a number of the "pieces" are very talented, but they aren't playing for each other right now. They are playing as individuals in spurts. Everyone's play is anemic. Bryz has been great and horrible. Coburn,Coots, and G...same thing. Briere needs to be bought out. We need a #1 D, and a Bobby Ryan type player. And I wouldn't even be surprised if Bryz was bought out.

Our expectations are always high. And quite frankly, we are a bit spoiled. I'm glad we are that way...always a contender with ownership that wants to win, puts forth a good team, and isn't afraid to put their money where their mouth is. We tried to do that with the FA market last year and came up short. This year was going to be like this regardless after that. We aren't rebuilding, we are letting our youngsters get seasoned and we are all learning the lesson of humility.

It's not the youngsters who have been disappointing, it has been veterans like talbot, briere and fedetenko.

I've already stated how he should be on his way out. Homer should be putting a stop to this madness.

Lets see if the closed door ass ripping by Lavy had any effect on team. I doubt it , but we"ll see. Homer most likely is working the phones now, another pisspoor effort could in fact bring a move way before the TDL. I'd like them to inquire about yandle if they already haven't. He will be costly no doubt but worth it.

Some of the youngsters have been disappointing as well. Coots in particular. Talbot has been crummy. 1 goal in 25 games. And I don't know why Danny isn't a healthy scratch all year and just activate him for the playoffs.

The level of expectation is a double edged sword. It drives you to greatness, but it also makes you desperate. That leads to bad moves. Looks like Carter, Richie, Justin Williams, and Gagne all got to hoist a cup last year. The Flyers West...maybe they will start calling us the Kings East.

Coots has been pretty good defensively aside from yesterday and a few other plays through the season. Talbot wasn't brought here to score goals but he isn't doing any of the things he's supposed to. You can't scratch your biggest cap hit all season. He's amnesty número UNO if its up to me.

I think you are right about the #1 D.

Not sure you need the Bobby Ryan addition. I think Voracek is already better than Ryan. Simmonds is going to be a special player who gives you a very strong power forward presence. And, Hartnell is no slouch.

Captain Kangaroo was fired the day after the Sabres beat the Flyers, I believe it was 8-0?
Could that same that happen again tonight!
