8.25mil is a lot of money. Hope it doesn't mean you lose others because of it.
Well actually you are in our division going forward |

That's a pretty bald move by the Ducks... |

Compared to Zajac and his (frank)ing 5.75 million, this isn't too bad. Expensive still though. |

Sign and trade perry and keep ryan. Perry doesn't want to be here anyway. Now I'm concerned with our internal budget there's no way we can bring in new free agents or resign key guys/rookies when their contracts expire. |

TRADE IDEA
TOR
C.Perry
P.Hollad
ANA
P.Kessel
T.Bozak
This trade only makes sense if Perry wants to test free agency and ANA cant resign him. ANA gets a winger that can put up Perry like numbers and a 3rd line center. Toronto gets Perry and a prospect. Thoughts / constructive criticism? |

Steve Palumbo: BREAKING: Ducks Sign Ryan Getzlaf to an 8-year Extension! - Steve Palumbo
Boy, Calgary and Anaheim just reinforce the notion that the whole lockout was a complete and utter sham. Really like Getzlaf, but 8 x $8.25? Pretty rich for a guy who is in a contract year following up a bad 2011/12...
We're halfway through a shortened season...remind me again why? |

it makes no sense. kessel is gonna want pretty similar money after next season, and then the ducks are screwed again.
if they move him, i have a feeling it's gonna be for picks, prospects, or young guys who still have RFA time left. |

i like perry alot but i think getzlaf is a franchise centre which is hard to find |

Because we're stupid |

Why does Toronto give that much up for a UFA? - Lahey
It hinges on the possibility of resigning him. We have the cap room and the money to sign him for what hes looking for. He is also from Peterborough, so its possible he actually wants to play in Toronto to be around family and friends. |

Because all the players Toronto ever offers in trades are no good and every player coming back to Toronto is going to put up 80's Gretzky numbers the following year...or so I've learned on HockeyBuzz forums... |

I hear that every year, yet no good UFA's sign in Toronto.
You want to throw away Kessel for nothing go right ahead. |

I dunno if i'd do that, if he's testing free agency, just wait till he becomes a UFA? Your chances are just as good. |

You dont know when Koivu or Selanne retire. Kessel isnt a UFA until start of 2014 season, so if 1 or both of those players retire, then they would have enought to resign Kessel. It gives ANA a year of wiggle room, and Kessel may be the best return that a team would be willing to offer Perry right now. |
