Fist?

The nucks came out pretty hard despite the travel issues.

Calgary slowly got better as the game went on and it was great to see them pot the winner at the end after being so close on a couple shifts before. I though sedin was going to pot one in the empty net in the last 25 seconds.

On another note, Would it kill Tanguay to take a shot for a change?

Watched enough Nucks games to know that was not their best game. They were dead tired in the 3rd. They also almost tied it up with 30 seconds left. It was a fluke play by Bouw to have his stick in the way of an open net. He was not going for the puck he was taking out his man and it hit his stick. A rested Canucks would have beaten the flames.

So back to .500. What team shows up Weds? The biggest fear of all us fans is that this bipolar play will continue right thru to April 10th, then we slowly fall out of reach for the playoffs. Feasty makes no moves & is kissing the ground yet that he still has his 1st & 3rd round picks.

That was a great game. Loved it when McGrattan really got the crowd going.
Colin, that sponsor you got has got some sweet deals on tix. Might make the trip to see the flames more often now

Yeah...it makes it tough to write sometimes too as they can look like two different teams at times. I think its safe to say that at midway mark if they dont find consistency they need to do something big...this is arguably their last shot at making the playoffs with this leadership group (Iggy/Kipper/Jbo).

Elliot Friedman (sp) says there's lots of interest in JBo and Gio...

I wouldn't trade either unless the return was such you just couldn't turn it down. If I had to pick one though I would trade Gio. They are both the same age and Jbo can skate backwards quicker then most players can going forward. Yes Gio plays with a little more of an edge but we can rely on others for that.

On another note I think McGratton will help us huge.

I agree. I love Jord Ano but I believe he has reach his ceiling, not that there's anything wrong with that. But I think a team would way overpay for him, especially because he has a nice contract. I think we could move him for a young sniper, maybe like a Kreider out of NYR, maybe even one of the young lads out of Philly.

EDIT: Conacher (TB) Hagelin (NYR) Frattin (TOR) other options.

Really Whip, you think we have others that can play gritty in the back end? Who? Wideman may be a little bit but JBo, TJ, Butler, Smith.... I can't say I agree with that. Also, Gio has more leadership abilities and a better contract.

I think it would have to depend on the return.

Of course the return is vital. Remember next year we have Breen who will be ready and who knows maybe a decent D man (prospect)+ (hopefully a top 6 forward) comes back for either one of them.

I do think that most teams would want JBo over Gio though.

Let's face it though, neither of these guys are going anywhere. Meritocracy turned Mediocrity.

He's a top d man on any team I don't care what he gets paid. Honestly I could see him in Pittsburgh (along with another Flames who's name I won't mention).

Great but what would the return be. It would have to start with Maata, a top 6 prospect, a top 4 D prospect and a 1st. All this at the very least.

I probably would still be pissed though...

I wouldnt be so sure...Feaster isnt one to sit back and sip a beer while his team struggles. He's either going to try and improve the team to be more competitive...and if cant do a reasonable job at that, he will have to start moving guys as the team he's wanted to build starts to take shape.

Remember...he's still rather new and most moves he has made have barely come to fruition.

Feaster won't move anything. I've got a feeling he'd rather loose Iginla as a UFA than trade him if he thinks there is a chance at a playoff spot. Only problem is at trade deadline there will probably be 14 teams in the west with a chance at playoffs.

I'm not convinced Iggy would sign anywhere else. I'm pretty sure that Calgary would be given the opportunity to match any offer he was presented. Just a feeling.

Taylor looked solid after the first period. A little nervous in the first and some trouble with rebounds. Good on him. Funny enough Kipper didn't become a regular in the NHL until he was 27 and called up do to injury...

As far as the non call on Stajan, there was at least one brutal non tripping call as well when I beleive Hudler was tripped in front of the bench. It happens.

Was a littel skeptical about the McGrattan signing. He seemed to add a little spark to the guys. I'll probably take some flack over this comparison but much the same way Chris Simon did when he joined the team in 03-04.

Exactly! Now I'm not saying we're going on a cup run now but McGratton will definitely help.

Ya I didn't necessarily mean they would be packaged up, I could just see him there. Now THAT would be a blockbuster!

"they outplayed the 1st place team in the Northwest in front of the hometown crowd…and I don’t want to hear about excuses that Vancouver arrived late . "

I think your joking, lol. I know how much a win over Vancouver means to you guys especially a non shootout win because it doesn't happen much over Vancouver. I was watching the game and being embarraced for the Flames until Iginla scored that fluker because of how the Canucks were still outplaying them despite there strange "situation", etc. Then laughing at the response to the fans, announcer and players on the ice once the horn sounded, It actually gave me joy inside, like giving a disabled kid a gift at Christmas time.

Just a little perspective....the Flames are 6 points back of the "All Mighty" Canucks right now with 1 game in hand. Not to mention their perennial MVP has been on the shelf for well over a month....
