Absolutely not. Left his feet before contact, targeted the head, dirty hit. He's getting a call from Shanahan.

Textbook example of the kind of hit the NHL wants gone.

He'll be fined, Shanny will screw it some how. He almost always does.

Yeah, he's gone, if he had've just stayed on his skates it would have still been a hard hit and clean, but he outright dived at the head, he'll be gone.

for what it's worth, I didn't see anything wrong with the first hit on Perrault besides Perrault trying to dipsy-doodle past an oncoming train.

Lundin did bring his head down BUT Zolnierczyk hit him in an upward motion, whether or not he left his feet, this lunging effect creates a true charging penalty. Zolnierczyk will now get his first 2 game suspension and a likely demotion back to the minors. As Tommy stated above he could have leveled the guy without the lunge and it would have been clean.

5 games. i think the lunging forward and leaving his skates makes it predatory and illegal.

It'll likely be 2 or 3. Very reckless play. It will be interesting to see if Alfredsson faces any additional discipline for the two cross checks to Rinaldo's head-although he definitely should face less punishment than Zolnierczyk.

he got him in the shoulder and then the head once. I doubt there is a suspension, but potentially a fine. I think Alfie was expecting Rinaldo to stand up for himself rather than cower against the boards.

i the replay i saw i don't see where he gets him in the head twice. i may be wrong, but just what i've seen so far. And really rinaldo is a female dog for not standing up for himself. if he wants to play that type of game he's going to have to answer for his actions every once and awhile. Alfie would of been a easy target too.

Ok, so next time you want Rinaldo to knock Alfie into retirement, got it.

Why? He already fought in the game. Clean hit and then takes two cross checks. He doesn't have to do anything else. took Alfie off for five. Well done.

Z on the other hand deserves 3-4 games off

its still cowardly imo.

i haven't watched him enough to properly guage his game, but he seems like a premier poop disturber. he didn't do anything dirty or illegal, just was always in everyone's face. he did a good job getting under a few of the sens skin and alfie reacted at the end. I just wish he didn't turtle like he did. doesn't need to pound the poop out of alfie but at least give him a couple shots back.

For all of the people who are only judging the hit based on watching the multiple angles in slow motion, remember the speed that the NHL game is played.

Was this a hit deserving of league review...yes. Is Harry Z a "head hunter", "dirtiest player in the league", deserving of lifetime ban? No. He is reckless at times. This was shaping up to be a huge hit with or without the shoulder to head. That said, Harry Z did leave is feet prior to impact (upon further review) even if just barely. For that reason alone he needs to be/should be facing some level of discipline.

IMHO, this is a 2-4 game infraction. 2 games would be more severe than Schenn's suspension earlier this season. 4 games would be a full weeks schedule.

I don't think it's cowardly at all. He played it smart by not retaliating. Sens got 5 minutes and Flyers got 2 mins. I'd take that swap any day. Close game and Sens got to kill PP for 5 of the remaining 7 mins of game. Smart.

Please learn the game before commenting again! Rinaldo you want to knock out Alfie? STUPID comment! If he did, your type would be the first on here wanting him out of the league! What about the coward Neil going after Schenn when Simmonds was on the ice? Seriously, shut up!

So you're saying exactly what is true about Rinaldo. He has found control in his game this season, and is very effective in his role. Gets under opponents skin while not taking dumb selfish penalties. He took the Alfie cheapshots, and got your best player kicked out of a 1-goal game. I'd say that's very effective.

If you still had Ruutu and Giroux did the same as Alfie in that situation, we'd be pissed at Ruutu but he would have been praised by Sens fans for getting Giroux booted.

I don't recall anyone saying he was the "dirtiest player in the league" or "deserving of a lifetime ban". Link?

Also, as you admitted, Z left his feet and hit Lundin square in the face. If he doesn't leave his feet or lunge the way he does, it's a good, clean hit - and Lundin is likely winded, but OK. The fact he upped the damage in such a reckless manner would suggest that he was clearly head hunting in this case. He's got a great hit lined up by playing within the rules - the fact he leaves his feet would make him a head hunter (even if he doesn't have a prior history of it).

i get that. maybe why im pissed at him, lol.

but he declined invites from neil and smith all game and took on a non fighter in daugavins (no choice really daug brought it on himself, and rinaldo gave him a tap at the end for his efforts so i give him props for that).

I don't see it as cowardly.

Why not drop the gloves to fight Rinaldo instead?

“Well it’s a bad play by him. Phillips is in a vulnerable position right by the boards & he (Rinaldo) hits him from the side, behind kind of, & I didn’t really know if Chris was injured at the time or not, but I did not like that hit at all"

-Daniel Alfredsson

As bad as Zolnierczyk's hit was, that's a half assed defense.

He hit him from the side, behind kind of...so I tried to cross check him in the head twice.

I would say 2-3 games for the hit and then double it for this being the second game in a row there was a question about his play. Obviously he is being reckless out there even if he's not trying to.

By rule the Game Misconduct that was rescinded the game before should have zero bearing on how many games he gets from this hit.
