I thought i saw a quote from Daly saying he wouldn't have to go through waivers.
If he did, yikes that would be a nightmare! |

But did they actually lose out?...
Yes they did, big time
They signed a second line player to a $10 mil 2 year contract,
They would have to pay him at least $6.5 mil after second year.
If avs would not match
Flames would loose a 1st and 3rd round draft pick for a player they would not be able to play for them this year, and would have to pay him $9 mil next year.
So you didnt loose much, just your dignity

they have been to varying degrees. It hasn't been this bad since the last couple months of Sutters reign. |

Move forward with Feaster? If all of this ROR waiver stuff is true, I think he's done--which I'm not all that upset about.

From PHT: NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly confirmed to TSN that, yes, O’Reilly would have had to clear waivers to join the Flames if he’d played a KHL game after Jan. 19.

Although I see your point, I think in the time he's been here he's done well. He needs to make up for this mistake and do something doubly smart |

I wonder how many flames fans thought it desperate and pathetic when the Oilers threw offer sheets at Vanek and then Penner...
I personaly do not think Calgary has a bad team right now. I like the moves Feaster made this offseason. But this team is average at best and will live and die on Kipper's ability to steal games. The only chance they have of making the playoffs or doing well in them is 100% Kipper.
Seems pointless to make a team that's only real upside is hopefuly making the playoffs and most likely getting swept in the first round if they do.
Feaster's attmpts to make this team better are very consistant with what the Oilers were trying to do for years before they went into full rebuild. Which is now getting more and more desperate and embarrasing.
If April comes around and a playoff spot is highly unlikely I think it will be very foolish of Feaster to not go into full blown rebuild mode and trade as many old assets as possible. I do not see this team consistantly making the playoffs over the next ten years on it's current course. I do not see a cup even remotely possible either. |

I get that Colin. While our prospect base has improved somewhat during his tenure, our position in the standings as slightly worsened--and that was his big sell when he was interviewing for the job.
I think another playoff miss combined with this ROR story will be his end. |

How does Ownership trust this Management team to make multi million dollar decisions? Tallon lost his job over an administrative screw up. That pales to what this could have been if the Avs decided to take the picks. King should not escape this either like he did on the Dutter sacrifice. We need this like we need a hole in the head. We have Vanc & then a road trip from hell. The possiblity of even breaking .500 on the next 6 games is well...... I'll win money on the lotto max before that happens. We need a GM to make huge moves & gear up for a draft that will impact this franchise for years & years to come. We dont need an interim GM or someone new on a short leash. These are bad times. |

Nah in all honesty I think all they have to do is punt King but that probably won't happen as King has increased $$$ in Murray's pocket. |

Man......oh man.
That would have been an instant firing if the Av's hadn't matched and say...CBJ grabbed O'Reilly off waivers. |
