2-1. Embarass? The powerplay maybe. - Buffalo--Sabres
The powerplay, the effort level, the inability to show a killer instinct. The Bolts couldn't finish any of their chances. There was none of the urgency shown against the Hurricanes and Penguins. It was like the Bolts just expected a W to fall into their lap. Not a recipe for success. |

It was a let down from the Pens game. These games happen, especially at home. A couple of those PP's were questionable IMO |

Officiating has been weak all season, on both sides of most tilts. Agree with your comment. Big let down after a pretty inspiring effort against the Pens. All the talk was that there was something to work on after that one. Don't really know what happened but, as you say, these games happen. |

Hey buddy, we can talk and write trash about the Sabres. Why? Because they are OUR Sabres. You? You had better tone it down a bit. |

Sabres were deperate too.
So what would it take to get Brett Connolly from you guys? |

Didn't see a whole lot from your big offensive guns in the form of desperation. You guys did what we couldn't though. You took advantage of your opportunities when they were presented.
Make me an offer. I like the guy. |

Vanek is hot and cold, but the pace to this game looked like a desperate game from the Sabres. It slowed with the PP's.
Pominville for Connolly and a 2nd. We need a rebuild |

I'm going to say no to that deal, but it's tough for me. I've always really liked Pominville, but I don't think the Lightning should be trading away youth for 30+ year old guys right now. You said you guys need a rebuild; we are sort of in a semi-rebuild with all the young talent coming up through our system. Connolly is a big part of that. I'm really high on him, and I think he'll be a solid guy for the Lightning. |

Losing to a 15th place team is always embarrassing. Losing to a 15th place team on home ice is even more embarrassing.
It's ok for us to say the Sabres suck, but ...Oh I kid, but I really can't remember the last time someone said/wrote it's embarrassing to lose to the Sabres. Maybe I should get used to it though |

We're lucky to be in eighth. I don't see it lasting. |

Probably not a good idea to entertain Sabres fans. They're not the nicest of people, kinda like Flyers fans only not as loud. |

Well said. We've seen that from our team quite a bit this year. |

I guess this sometimes happens when a team sees their opponents as floundering pushovers. How could you argue really. We have really lacked any sort of passion lately. Tonight we had a bit more than usual. Perhaps it was because the players' parents or mentors made the trip with the team. Maybe we should take them everywhere we go.
By the way, classy ending to your post. I appreciate people who are knowledgeable about, and respectful of other clubs. I wish you guys good luck. I think most of us are hoping for #1 overall |

Appreciate your kind words. I like some of the things Rolston's had to say during his short tenure with you guys. No short cuts. Hard work. That gets you wins in this league. Wishing him nothing but the best. |

Just home from the game.
It was a disappointing effort by the Lightning. On the two Sabres' goals, our breakout broke down. Our defence was incapable of getting the puck out of our end or to our forwards resulting with the puck in the back of our net twice. Yuck.
Buffalo generally played a good defensive game. Their penalty kill was excellent. Ryan Miller had a solid night with few rebounds, good positional play and was ready for Stamko's one timers. The Sabres' defensive play was effective by lining up at their blue line and causing us to dump and chase. Usually, the Sabres beat us to the puck and their breakout was pretty crisp. Will be interesting to see if the Sabres are this effective against other teams and start to move up the standings.
I think this was my first sellout game at the Forum since the Lightning - Flyer Eastern Finals in 2004. Kudos to Vinik for marketing the team and making the franchise rock again. |

Not to sound like a smartass, but I thought you were at the leafs game? All the home games have been "sellouts" so far.
But yeah, he's definitely made the forum somewhere people can really enjoy a hockey game. I love the place to death. |

I was at the Leafs game but there were a lot of empty seats so I assumed it wasn't a sellout. I needed to buy a single ticket for a family member tonight and found out that the game was sold out. No problem buying a ticket from a scalper.
Hope the sellouts can happen next year too. Cheers

Unlike most fans I wasn't too thrilled about the Sabres D. I feel like if anything the lightning beat themselves. The first goal was unfortunate yes but the second goals was like something out of the sabres defensive playbook. The turnover at the blueline is one thing but I still don't understand how vanek was able to get that pass out to the top of the circle with two lightning players in the way. |
