Smart move for ANA. I don't think Burke is as good as everyone makes him out to be as a GM, but he does have an eye for talent. |

Wonder if Burke wishes he never made that Lupul and Gardiner deal now

I seriously doubt BB will ever be a GM in the NHL again, he's just not that good at it. He can pull off a trade better than most, but he can't build, his biggest downfall. |

I think one of his faults is that he opens his mouth. He opens it up and then when he fails to get what he wants he still had to do something so he signs Tim Connolly.
Seems to be a bully and it appeared to back fire eventually. |

Really? What have the twins ever won in the NHL. Worst move the Vancouver ever made was drafting both of them. Set that franchise back at least 10 years! |

He has made some bad moves, but how is that bullying exactly to open his mouth more than he should? |

It's much easier than that, he's a jackass. He inherited most of the cup winning anaheim team from bryan murray. |

He has an eye for pro talent is what I should've said.
By the way, the twins saved that franchise. The Nucks were losing 20 or 30mil a year before Burke came in. |

The Canucks are, currently, one of the richest franchise in the NHL. I don't think he was talking about finances. |

True, but if he is such a great talent evaluator, why haven't the twins won even 1 Stanley Cup? |

They came within a game of winning it all, they've both won Art Ross Trophies, a Hart Trophy, a Ted Lindsay Trophy, they've held up their end of the bargain!! They just didn't have a good enough group around them to win it all, not their fault. |

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that it's because a Cup win is a team victory that includes the other 18 players dressed for the games. |

I agree with this other then the bullying part. Although I thought Burkie was really good in some areas I felt like he opened his mouth way too much. For instance, he always told the media what he was going to do for the club and what he wanted in deals or in signings. I know it's tough to compare the NHL and MLB but look at Anthopolous, but he never says what hes going to do until the deal or signing is finished. This may have killed signings or deals for the leafs. The Kaberle trade was a great example. He evetually got what he wanted to an extent, but the deal took forever to happen and although Kaberle was overvalued he may have gotten more. |

I'll jump on this and another comment made earlier ... he is an overated, self indulged blow hard ......
what talent did he draft for the Ducks that had any impact on their Cup win?? Murray drafted the players.... Burke traded for Pronger when Edmonton had no leverage and signed Scott Neidemeyer, who wanted to play with his brother. Not the most diffciult thing in the world to orchestrate.
Further, drafting the twins was almost as easy as drafting Crosby .... sure he had to make a trade to get 1-2, but that doesnt mean he has an eye for talent..... that means he 'won' that trade, then picked the best two players in the draft. |

you're right .... its Burke's for not surrounding them with enough talent through the draft.
The biggest problem doesnt lie with BB, it lies with the people that believ the bs that he spews ...... it's not even half as good as he tells everybody he is..... |
