LeBrun has to be kinda trolling with his article don't you think?

The basis of article: 'Bruins would want Alfredsson if he was available, but I don't think he would be available unless the Senators were out of the playoffs.....and right now there is no way to know if they will be out of it or not.'

This is the same thing EK did with Perry and Getzlaf a couple days ago. Bring up player names and teams for a headline but don't really come down on one side or the other definitely, just give every outcome as a possibility.

If it happens, fantastic. But articles written this way are for page views.

I don't believe Versteeg ever played for Ottawa. I think that was a deal with Chicago.

It was, but it was a deal to get Bochenski (a former Sen) in the Boston organization.

Should this happen and result in another Cup for this group and a first for Alfie, the fact that Matt Cooke playing a part (albeit an accidental one) in putting the Bruins in that position would be beyond ironic.

recchin ball was a year OLDER when he came to causeway (born in '68 and arrived in '09). he already had 2 rings but stayed 3 years to get the 3rd one.

alfie should rent himself out for the chance to win one. he can always go back to ottawa after he gets some bling.

that captain morgan skate chomp was no accident and now players are going to have to wear ridiculously hot kevlar socks. players are responsible for their sticks at all times. their skates should be no different.

Is Alfie really a part of a "big four" that boston fans wish to acquire?

The way Alfie is keeping the Sens winning, I wouldnt hold my breath, Sens will be challenging for a playoff spot past the trade deadline. Anaheim are playing great & no way they let Getzlaff or Ryan go without getting a current significant roster piece back. Hardly something the Bruins would want to do. The Flames however, well thats a different story as we already have 2 feet on a banana peel & we would have to become one of the best teams in the league to get us mathematically back in a playoff spot. Iggy is probably your best bet to try and acquire a significant piece for a playoff run.

Im a fan of the Sens, and I hope he does it because he deserves the chance to win and it would be good going forward for the team. I still think he plays next year and obviously he will come back. That said, I really dont see Alfie wanting to do it. He has 4 boys here and during the lockout really enjoyed family life. To give that up for 3 months would be hard on him I think.

Just my 2c.

Keep hearing Jarome and Alfredsson but with the Avalanche really floundering is there a shot at prying PA Parenteau away from Colorado? He's cheaper then Jarome and Alfredsson and at 29 has better upside.

Sens are in year 2 of a 3 year rebuild plan, very much on an accelerated development path given the injuries this year, and tbh we don't need anything from the Bs unless you're planning to offer us Chara back. The only piece that would possibly be of interest to the Sens would be Dougie Hamilton, but even then we have a similar player in Cowen already on the IR. I've been saying this over in Yost's blog - no one will ever give us what we (the team and the fans) value Alfredsson at. The Bourque comparison is pretty fair, and when he got moved Boston received a top six forward (Rolston), a fringe prospect (Grenier) and a 1st. Are the Bruins willing to pony that up (something along the lines of Horton, Pandolfo and a 1st)? God no, I wouldn't and none of you would either, but it is a fair price for the quality of what you're getting back in return, even if he is 40.

The Bourque comparison is fair, in that he was never gonna win with Boston, beyond that, Alfie is no Ray Bourque. You're talking about one of the top 5 ever to play his position, which Alfredson is not. I wouldn't give up anything on the top two lines for him as a rental.

At the time of the trade Bourque was a top 50 player in the league with his glory days long behind him (better dmen at that time just off the top of my head: Niedermeyer, Al Macinnis, Scott Stevens, Rob Blake, Chris Pronger, Lidstrom, Brian Leetch, maybe Chris Chelios) so the comparison is valid.

I understand why you're not willing to give anything like what we want, which is why this trade won't happen.

You wouldn't be happy with recieving a top tier prospect and a first for Alfredsson? The Bruins would never send Horton out in a trade, that would blow up the first line which makes no sense for a potential playoff run.

Everything that Alfredsson means to the Sens organization....Bruins dont receive any of that in the trade. The Bruins get the player and the locker room presence. If they made a trade it would be a prospect and a first, unless the Bruins sent back a player that Alfredsson would replace like Bourque which the Sens won't want.

Personally, I hope he gets a chance to stay with the Sens for another shot at the cup because it was pretty bittersweet to see Bourque win it with another team.

Al MacInnis????

The reality is that the Sens value Alfredson more than anyone else in the league, thats why no deal will get done. There was actually a bidding war for Bourque, if I remember right the Flyers were pushing hard for him.
I gotta think its probably gonna be Ignilia that ends up here, with his nearly empty tank, but I wouldnt mind them making a move on D instead, upgrade the minutes that Ferrance is using.
