I don't think that tambs has the balls to make a trade. Too scared to lose one. Sure hope he does though someone out there must be willing to take on Whitney. |

Richard Cloutier: Battle of the Bad I: Jackets vs. Oilers - Maxbone
Oilers are losing for one simple reason..Not shooting the puck. Time and time again they get set up in perfect scoring position and....wait for it.....pass. way too many cute plays that always winds up with us losing puck position. What was always our complaint with Hemsky, he never shot the puck, well we know have 2 lines of that. |

*Get the next three 1st overall picks*
2015 Edmonton Oilers
Hall ~ RNH ~ Eberle
Clowe ~ McDavid ~ Lucic
Hartikainen ~ Lander ~ Paajarvi
Torres ~ Pitlick ~ Jones
Schultz ~ Jones
Ekblad ~ Klefbom
Smid ~ Petry
Dubnyk
Roy/Bunz
**In 2015, Yakupov + Gagner + two assets could totally land us Clowe + Lucic. Yakupov's value will be greater than either Clowe or Lucic alone. So in a sense, it would be Yakupov for one of Clowe/Lucic plus an asset/roster player. Then it would be Gagner + the asset acquired from the Clowe/Lucic deal + an additional prospect/asset from our own crop for the other one of Clowe/Lucic.** |

so we just start shooting more and we win those games??
oh if only it were really just that simple..........
outcoached, outsized, outbattled, outforechecked, outfaceoffed, a weak third pairing etc etc |

I wouldnt give up Yakupov for Lucic, sure we need size and grit that can play top six but you don't do that by trading away your most gifted goal scorer..
Somethin along the lines of David Clarkson would make more sense to me..

What I mean is I would rather give up the price it takes to get Clarkson than the price it would take to get Lucic..
Wouldnt part with any of our five stars in the making..
This team needs some clarkson, clifford, troy brouwer type bottom sixers instead of every day two way forwards..
It would be awesome to sign Ryan Clowe here in the summer..or trade for him now and resign him |

If you don't shoot, you don't score. Simple as that. |

I am thinking it's a forward and a defenseman trade. 2 for 2. Okposo, Bailey, Streit, or Visnovsky is involved. I won't be surprised if Reasoner is also in the mix if EDM just want to do something small to cover the grounds until Horcoff or Belanger returns.
Apparently if a trade is supposed to happen, it's to happy today prior to game time. |

Wouldn't Cheechoo have to pass through re-entry waivers if we signed him? With the way injuries are piling up around the league you'd have to think someone would claim him??? |

I think because he's signed to an AHL only contract that waiver rules would not apply.
I'm not positive, but pretty sure that they would just need to sign him to an NHL contract if they choose. So it wouldn't be a callup situation.
While he's looking great in the A, i'm not sure he still has NHL wheels though.
It would really be something if he could get up to speed. I'm sure the Oiler brass is watching him very closely. |

I keep hoping the Oil will challenge the Canucks because I can't stand them
You Oiler fans have the patience of Mother Teresa as you wait for the kids to mature
You must all get tired of talking about draft picks after losing to an old Detroit team
Of all your young guns I see Hall as the most expendable |

I doubt Whitney is going anywhere with his NTC. Especially to NYI.
The only thing from NY that makes any sense is Nino or a Center like Bailey or Nelson.
Going the other way I could see Hemsky or possibly (you'll hate me for suggesting) Petry. Isles need D.
My guess:
Petry and Hemsky for Nino and Lubo. |
