With how McGinn has played, does Simmonds' return automatically put 15 back on the third line?

(I waited as long as I could to let ggunky have the first post...)

Bill,

would have to believe that talon wanted ellerby out of conf. surely the flyers would have had interest and a 4th rndr if necessary.

Unfortunately, that's probably likely.. personally, I wouldn't touch it right now. McGinn is helping that first line get some major chances. I'd stick Simmonds back and if he works his way back up over time, he does... but there's no denying how well McGinn has played

When you are willing to dump off a player for such a modest return, I don't think getting him out of the conference was a major consideration. I just think LA acted first. Perhaps the Flyers' pro scouts weren't happy with what they've seen of Ellerby, either.

Sorry. Weekends are tough on me, I like to get a little extra sleep when I can.

What would it take to pry Tyler Myers from Buffalo? With the way hes been playing lately we might be able to get him for a steal pending his cap hit

I was surprised at the low cost but also thought the Flyers could have taken a shot at him.

Are we at the 50 contract limit? If so, FL may not have wanted to take on a contract (or the attached salary) in return

Also possible.. It's no great loss, but I would like to see them start stockpiling picks, college players (read) and reclamation projects on D.

I assumed we hit fifty when we signed Knuble. I tried to find a site that has contract counts, but came up with nothing.

Oh well, it's all speculative anyways I guess.

We are at 49 with Laughton being sent back to junior. We'd have been at fifty if we made this trade, which likely played a role in why we didn't get involved.

It would be the usual utter bullpoop from Laviolette if he takes Sestito out of the line up while leaving hacks like Fedotenko and Knuble in there. Really shows the players what playing well and winning a game for the team gets them. Limited minutes the next night and then a trip to the press box while useless POS's like Fedotenko and Knuble continue to get ice time.

Obviously with what Talon gave him away for, I don't see why he'd be so worried about getting him out of Conference. Flyers may not have know he was available, or may not have had any interest. Flyers have on contract space open. need to retain flexibility.

I would seriously doubt that. They aren't going to give up on him this early, nor would they give him away. Doubt if he's available, and if he is the price would be very high.

knuble has played pretty well since he signed. good puck possession, always in front of the net. not sure what you want out of him? feds has been up and down this year, but what do you want from a 4th liner. sestito is about the same thing. although feds has more speed and skill. don't fall in love with tito just because he scored two goals. that is not a normal sample of what he does.

For all we know they did but Florida could have said we only want a pick, we aren't interested in taking a contract back
