Just to carry on the last conversation....I think a lot of the Thomas deal has to do with what they are going to do with Streit. He's not getting any younger, nor, from what I've seen this year, any better defensively. I just hope Garth moves him for an adult human being, as opposed to yet another guy who we won't see here for five years. I'd take my chances on moving him for a better defensive player, if someone is looking for a PP QB.

We can live with Visnovsky this year, and groom Hamonic for the role on the second unit (I really believe Travis is going to be the best all-around defensemen we've seen here in years)- and who knows, maybe Vis will be another guy who falls in love with the REAL Long Island (imagine that), and will stay for another year. The bottom line is that Snow can't afford another Parenteau, where we get nothing for him- if that happens, you seriously have to look at finding someone else to do his job, IMO.

Any predictions on tonights game???

You guys think your upset about the Isles... Buffalo fans want Lindy Ruff gone.

The local radio stations, and fans I know are just pissed.

They want changes too.

I think Lindy is a very good coach but he has been coach too long in Buffalo. Sometimes you need a new voice. I'm interested to see how Bailey and Vish do. All I know is a 4th straight loss and you will really hear panic.

We lose 4th in a row in a shortened season I guess it will represent our usual November collapse where we basically eliminate ourselves. Lindy does need to go and join the Isles perhaps...

unless you put Streit in a package, isles will only get a pick for him at deadline

what i do not understand is how some ppl think the isles are a playoff team?
we have a lousy defense besides Harmonic, and problems scoring besides JT,MM,
and shakey goaltending ........

I try to be positive, but reality keeps kicking in........
honestly, even if we make the playoffs, we will be bounced in 1st rd bc team is not built with grinders, to grind out games when needed.....

Yep you lose 4 in a row in a short season and good luck. I'd take Lindy in a minute. I just think his time is done in Buffalo. Players get tired of hearing the same voice for years.

I have no idea to me this is not a playoff team unless some big moves are made. You just look at the roster and see the holes. It a different sport but I knew no way the Jets would make the playoffs this year.

We were at, what, 48 without Thomas with a floor of 44. Streit's cap hit is 4.1. An adult human being in return wouldn't have pushed us below the cap, even if he only made the league minimum. We'll have to see what the master plan is I guess, but I'm not expecting some amazing move that brings in actual NHL talent. NHL talent would make about as much as what we ship out, I'd think. We'll see though.

No one thought Fla. was a playoff team last year. I don't think our group is as talented as many other teams in the East, but I don't think they're talentless either, like maybe back in 08-09. In the end though, when a team comes together, they can put some solid streaks together and play better than anyone expected. They still need a lot of work on the roster, sure, but if they could muster up some mental toughness and actually commit to playing every game with the same drive and focus that they played on the last road trip, they can probably win a bunch more games than they lose and get in.

Fla seemed to have a tougher grind it out team. The thing is UIF this team has not shown the mental or pysical toughness. They pretty much went into a fetal position against the Rangers. I have a real hard time seeing this team making it as currently constructed and this includes the coaching as well. This team only shows small flashes and then panics. This team seems to need guys like Haley, Martin, and Gillies running around like crazy to feel secure.

That's a good one. Maybe with the Tim Thomas acquisition we might get there

Sounds good to me. Talk about two teams overdue to make trades.
