Gonna take more than a coaching change out there...handing out 200m in one offseason is risky at best, and it's still way too early to call it a bad move but it's not looking good |

I guess 200M doesn't solve all problems. Lemaire is the last guy you guys should get. Great coach but not in today's NHL imo. - whipper334
I disagree, when he took over for that clown Maclean 2 years ago he turned one of the worst teams that year into the hottest team in the NHL. His system is sound but it would only be viable with certain teams |

Time for a coaching change? - Brad Ratgen[/
Yes it is
Parise looks terrific and worth the money? Maybe time will tell
Suter looks very average but again it's early
Glad they passed on the Hawks offer to play on an average team with ugly Jerseys
If I were Minnie I would look at Paul Maurice
Good with young players
Smart guy and he is coaching in Russia right now so I am not sure he is available |

I mean, I went into the game saying you can't blame the coach or the system and that the players have to perform, but WOW! If the system ain't working, then fix it. - Brad Ratgen
But are you saying this 10 game sample is enough for you to say that Yeo and his system won't work?
I just think talk about firing Yeo is premature. I'm not saying anyone is wrong to think that. It's fair to question the results to this point and point out where you see problems. However, if Yeo is to be graded on that scale, how short of a leash does the next guy get?
I had/have fairly low expectations for this year. I fully expect we will see a pretty disjointed team for some time. But I do expect it to get better over time. If it doesn't and it gets significantly worse, then I would have to reconsider if Yeo is capable of taking this team to next level. |

In a short season, I think you ride out the storm. I'm not sure a coaching change with 30+ games left is going to make a tremendous amount of difference unless you know you have the absolute right coach and he's going to be viable for the next several years.
Once it becomes clear the Wild are out of the playoffs, then I think you start looking for the future coach of this team. Maybe you find him and get him to handle the last couple of weeks of the season.
I like Fletcher as a GM for the most part but he took a very big risk bringing in another rookie coach. I'd say too big a risk, but I think he's probably on the 3 strikes and your out contract right now. I believe Leopold likes Fletcher and will give him one more shot at a winner if Yeo fails.
As far as the money Leopold spent to bring in Suter/Parise, I think that happens with or without Fletcher at the helm. So that much is on Leopold IMO. But Fletcher has to deliver on the coaching end of the equation. |

As far as Lemaire goes... Does he want to coach? If he has to be talked into it, I think you let that dream die. Don't get me wrong, I love Lemaire and he will always be #1 in most Minne fans hearts, but do we really want to go back to that grind it out style of hockey with 2 -1 wins and 1 - 1 shoot outs? I guess winning is the overall objective and maybe with the talent this team has coming up he has a much greater chance at success.
I don't know, Lemaire would certainly be a short term answer, but how many years does he have left in the tank? He's 67 years old. And I'll pose the question again; does he still want to coach?

I don't think the contracts handed out to Parise and Suter are even an issue. The team has enough talent to win, for whatever the reason be it coaching, team chemistry or what have you, they have enough talent to win. Yeah, they still have plenty of room for improvement as far as the roster goes, but they also have possibly about $14 million coming off the books after this season and possibly more if they move Setoguchi. So they'll have cap space to work with next season to add more pieces. |

Exactly my thoughts on Yeo. This team has two high priced free agents that were automatically made alternate captains, a rookie sensation that is still finding his legs, and a couple of call ups who are playing well but also need some time.
Give him the rest of the season to sink or swim. |

Good luck getting rid of Suter and that contract. He's the next komisarek or beauchemin...cashed in because of his partner. |

No, not if you're an idiot by accident, but yes, I guess it would if you spent your entire life choosing to be a tremendous idiot. But I guess at this point you can't really help yourself. I'd wish you luck, but something tells me you need a lot more than that. Have they mastered brain transplants in humans yet? |

Well...I won't go that far. Suter is a good, solid Dman but he's being way overpaid.
Alex Edler is a better player (more hits, more blocks, and prob more offensive potential) and is a year younger (also he has never played with anyone the caliber of Shea Weber) yet he's signed for 6 years @ 5m/yr. Suter is get 7.5m for 13 years. Yikes!
I think this deal will end up looking like the Phaneuf/Bouwmeeser contracts. Both of those guys are good solid Dmen but are signed to superstar contracts which they can never live up to. If they were 5m/yr players everyone would think they were great.
Suter will end up the same way. |

No dog in the hunt. Not a fan of Suter anymore. Do not blame him for chasing the money but he did lie to David Poile and that is very uncool. The only reason for this post is to say that Minny's logo is the most creative and coolest in the league. |

The Wild were a bad team last year.
The Wild added a top 6 forward and a top 4 Dman.
Those additions + last years bad team equals average.
Maybe the wild get in as a 7 or 8 . Maybe not. |

Protect him from what exactly? Suter is a big boy and can take care of himself, isn't a dirty player, so is hardly a target. He has no issues stepping up into the offensive zone but rarely is beaten back to his own end. His pairings at the start of the season were maybe 1/1000th the d-man that Weber is, maybe. He's playing better now with Brodin (who will most likely turn out to be our best defenseman), but is still no where near earning his paycheck, and most likely never will. The Wild were not the first team to overpay for a player, and certainly won't be the last. |

I mean having Weber as a D Partner vs. Anyone else you wont look as good. You have less responsibility if Weber is covering the oher half of the ice.
This is the same benefit Seabrook has by playing with Keith. |

I live in this great state of hockey and have had to listen to Wild fans all summer long. The sensible ones knew that adding two players to a below average roster would not make them a contender. On top of that, Parise is awesome but Suter was drastically overpaid (as people have already pointed out). The Wild will be a force to be reckoned with within the next five years as they have plenty of young (but undeveloped) talent. For example, Granlund has the potential but he is totally lost out there. And until they get a good 1st/2nd line center combination, it doesn't matter how many other pieces they have. Koivu can only carry the burden so far and one line and a fantastic powerplay does not make a championship team. |

I figured that much, just threw it in there anyways. But like I said, after a season with Brodin, I think he won't get nearly as much criticism. He will always be considered over-paid, how much so is yet to be determined. |
