Should we be at all concerned Baertschi is a little injury prone?

I hope Taylor gets a start. Give him the reigns on Saturday, let's see what he's got!

If Irving wins on Thursday you have to stick with him. That being said if he struggles Taylor will get his shot and just might end Irvings career.

Crazy. Kipper has been one of the most durable players Ive ever seen. The anti-Dipietro.

True dat! I think Franson fell on him funny. Word is one of the d-men went to the coach then they went and talked to kipper, he was ready to go back out there.

How does the emergency call up work? I heard them talking about it on the Fan last night that we might not have needed to sign Taylor to an NHL contract if the injury would have only kept Kipper out a game or two? Hopefully Irving proves himself and when Kipper comes back it will put some pressure on him. I don't think I'm alone when I say that Kipper seems to play better with a proven goalie pushing him like Turek or Toskala.

True story. God if it's serious we have a good shot at a top pick.

I think most Oiler trolls are loving this and thought we had a shot at top pick anyway.

To backup Irving in the interim, the Flames have signed Abbotsford Heat netminder, Danny Taylor, to a league minimum $525,000 one year/two way contract. This is somewhat unfortunate as it burns an NHL contract for the Flames, who were hopeful to have room for improvements down the road.

Taylor is only the Flames 48th contract and you kind of have to have 4 or 5 Goalies on NHL Contracts.

What was the other option? Make a deal for Bishop or sign one of the 40something FAs? That would be a step backwards IMO.

I think it tells us Kipper may be out longer than a few games. If it was very short term then they would've used the emergency call up with Brossiet (sp) IMO.

Ha! The Islanders guy with the pic of the Sham-wow pedophile should be along shortly to gripe about your post... You guys still sold on Duby being your #1?

Not me. First couple games asides the Flames have looked better than the Oil. Much harder working team. But if Kipper goes down....

Never considered that.... Was there any (real) explanation Irving was #3 on depth chart in Abbotsford? just seems bizarre that Irving stuck after the lock out considering the situation...

Taylor and Brust were on AHL contracts, Irving on NHL contract; so when training camp started only Irving went. Now that Taylor has signed an NHL contract, I'm thinking that perhaps Irving is going to backup Taylor. Guess we will find out tomorrow.

Makes sense... Hows Ramo's team doing in the K? Any chance we could see him this year (worst case and Kippers out? )

I think Irving will get a shot against the Jackets but god forbid he plays badly.

His team, Avangard Omsk, are first in their conference so I'm guessing they will be in the play-offs.
