Any word on Brent Burns? I can't seem to find much detail on his injury status... I chose him in my regular season pool in the hopes he would return asap.

I'm not sure if you saw the replay on Marleau's "tripping" penalty but all he does is a stick lift on Perry. Perry lost his balance and went down. It was as brutal of a call as the goal tender interferrence he got later.

In other news, the Sharks looked terrible. Hats off to the ducks for a strong game. McLellan hit it on the head. They were the better team. Let's hope the Sharks can find their legs for Thursday.

Sharks looked terrible. You don't usually play that bad and still get a win.

I am still surprized that the NHL allowed the ref who kicked Clowe out against Vancouver to ref last night against the Ducks. I'm not exactly sure how refs are selected, but I think the NHL should implement some sort of rule to prevent that and to ensure their refs are unbiased.

Unlike other teams the Sharks don't provide meaningful information on their injured players, they keep it a secret.
Horrible officiating and even worse game by San Jose yesterday. Still confused about how Getzlaf missed that shot with a couple of seconds remaining in regulation. The Sharks have had a lot of luck so far and those things tend to even out iver time. So they better bring their A-game on Thursday.

No Dan Boyle makes all the difference on this team. (Brent Burns would help too) So many of their breakouts were stalled. Thats were it all starts. Bad first and second passes. But not too bad considersing first round bust Petrecki's first game and Irwin in game 6 of his NHL career. Not to mention Braun is only 100 games deep, and Murray isnt exacly known for his offense prowess. Forwards cant do anything with out a good break out from the D.

All in all, happy to squeek out a win. I wouldnt jusdge the Sharks on this game.

I keep seeing drivel like this. This is just flat out untrue. Save for the run up to the playoffs or the playoffs themselves the Sharks are just as forth coming with player updates. Case in point, Boyle leaves the Vancouver game in the third, we know that night why. We knew the status of Demers and we knew Braun was dinged up before the season started and we knew a time table for return. Think to last year with Havlat's famous injury, we knew week by week what the progress was. To say the Sharks don't ever update their fans on the status of a player is disingenuous at best.

Now clearly Burns is an exception to the pattern. Instead of complaining we could move to productive areas of discussion. It may have something to do with a trade or move they are trying to make. Who really knows? The point is that there is more to consider in why they are treating Burn's case differently than to just make blanket statements. I agree it is frustrating not knowing, but let's not blow things out of proportion and make it seem as though the Sharks keep their fans in the dark on player injuries.

And no, I have no idea why this bothers me so much.

Well, we have apparently been following 2 different teams and two different leagues because most of what you are saying is simply not true.

Examples? What examples? Give me a specific example of the Sharks providing a specific info about their players on the shelf. My point is, the Sharks very rarely give us any time table on the return of their injured players like a lot of other teams do (Havlat a rare exception).
Hartnell has something and is out 4-6 weeks.
Pacioretty out 1 month after appendectomy. Do you hear anything like that from the Sharks about their injured players? When is Burns coming back? When is Demers coming back? These are the most recent examples. When a Sharks player goes down it's either IR or day-to-day which may last anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Either way, no information is provided as to the approximate timeline of their return. Even Pollak who pretty much lives in the Sharks locker room has nothing to say about that.

By the way, do you ever wonder why fans of other teams come to this thread asking "What's the word on (fill in the blank)? That's why. Because nobody tells us jack about those players other than they are injured.
