Lots of potential for this team to thrive, especially if;
1. Top line starts producing
2. Second line continues producing with Bourque's renewed energy
2. Diaz is to Markov as Any Defensman is to Markov
3. Price continues his stellar early season play (1 goal at even strength in 3gms)
4. Emelin provides the hard hitting Blueliner the Habs have been missing since Komisarek was any good
5. Prust and White strike some fear into opponents about pushing the team around

In the same breath, if these things don't continue to happen, we'll be in for a tough year

Oh and there's some guy that is supposed to sign a contract or something

Nice thing about Diaz is that he backs up his offensive play with the ability to take care of his own zone as well.

I am hoping no. I like what this kid brings and you see the talent oozing but he is not engaging physically like he did in Sarnia or with the WJC. He also appears uneasy carrying the puck.

Also not liking the fact that he is being used 3 minutes a period unless the habs have a huge lead.

Personally I'd rather see him spend the year in Sarnia, play alot of big minutes down there and come back and make the team next season.

Maybe thats just me though.

its lookin like Diaz might be the most underrated Hab (if not D in the league...altho its early), but there's no denying the effect that Markov is having on many players and the team in general, you can tell they feel comfortable out there

i agree there, but i wonder if he's gonna be helped by going back to the OHL, because if physicality is what he's not yet comfortable with, it wont help much playing kids, he could use like 20 games in the AHL...but he can't be sent down right? or can he if he stays past 5 games?

He can't go to AHL, too young... but he can play more than 5 game in NHL... he can play as much as they want to... he can play 20 games and then be sent back in OHL... the only thing is that after 5 games in NHL it count as 1 year on his entry level contract

Question is what is better for development? 20-25 mins a game in OHL or 10-13 mins a game in the NHL.

Also hate the fact we burn a year of eligibility in a 48 game schedule.

yeah he has to keep playing big minutes because he'll definetly be playing those minutes once he's 2-4 years into his career so i guess might as well send him back down, training camp next year he'll know exactly what he's in for

I think it's better to play 15 min against men than 25 against kids. I don't think there is much for him to learn in the junior league... it's not like if he hasn't play...he had the chance to play 33 games at sarnia before the world juniors... I think it's enough

This season is a season... even if it's short there is a cup to win at the end! The CH is more likely to make the playoff with him in the lineup than not

Hi Steven! Always a pleasure to read you!!

As much as it saddens me, Gally has to go back to Sarnia. It should be, from the Canadiens management point of view, the only logical move and the best business decision to do in the grand picture for the future of the team.

A full year of "rights" when he hits 25 or 26??? Against a short season of transition for the Habs?? I pick the long term...
