I like Nyquist on that second line much more than Samulesson on it.

thats easy to say
all we have to do is get cleary out of here for tatar/sheahan and were set.

couple points.

-cleary and samuelsson. did they even play last night? I bet Holland keeps these guys, dont know why

-Lashoff. dont expect him to score more goals. Think of him as more "Brad Stuart type" an hopefully he can develop into that

-Nyquist. finally hes here. I bet he does a hell of a lot more then Samuelsson does.

Its obvious that something needs to be done about the defense, whether it is closer to the trade deadline or in the summer. Holland has to make a move for a big time guy back there.

Me too. I went and saw the Griffins play the Marlies in December and Nyquist was the most talented player on the ice between the two teams.

Nyquist is one of the most talented prospects in the league, this 4-5 year crap with the wings has to stop.

Kadri and Gardiner didn't play. They probably would have given Nyquist a run for his money.

Nyquist should be a huge upgrade over an old, injury prone forward like Samuelsson. I will miss seeing Nyquist play in Grand Rapids if he does earn a roster spot (which I give about a 75% chance). He's been a big part of this superb team they have in Grand Rapids. He's a point a game player in the AHL.... and he has the talent to be a NHL regular (time will tell). The Griffins do have depth so I think they can replace his offense with Sheahan and Ferraro.

Now if Holland would just get rid of Cleary and Bertuzzi... and bring up Tatar and Andersson we'd be set. I really want to see what the line of Nyquist, Tatar and Andersson can do in the NHL.

Why would you get rid of Bertuzzi? They guy racks up 40+ pts a year, adds grit, and not to bad in shoot outs......ok deal for 2mil a year

Cleary on the other hand....guess only time will tell

Cleary and Samuelsson can go now, Bert can stay until his deal is up.

I am a huge Red Wing fan in the west and what Kenny Holland should be doing is trying to acquire David Rundblad from Phoenix. PP solved and he will fit right in with the other swedes. Do it, Rundblad for Tatar.

Hey, if he's gonna be picking through the blues garbage, might as well go for somebody with some upside like Rundblad.

If he wants more scoring, I hear Brad Boyes is available.

I do like Bert as much as anyone he does add some toughness... but the reality is this team needs to retool and get younger, faster forwards... NOW (not later) while Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Fils can still play the game. I'd much rather see Tatar or Andersson from GR take his spot. Holland should have only given him 1 year deal to begin with. The bottom 6 forward vets have had their chance and it would be nice to see this team actually get past the first round again (which hasn't happened since 2009). You can't let your top talent in GR rot until their 25 before they get a shot.

Huskins was ok tonight...probably better than anyone they could have called up from GR. Quincey seems to be on the ice for every goal against the Wings. Not that it's always his fault but a lot of times it is. He did make a nice play breaking up the pass on that 3 on 1 but i'm really starting to want to see the Wings play without him. Hope White is ok.

Howard was great tonight...if not for him it could have been a blowout.

Nice to see one finally go in for Brunner with all the chances he's gotten. The PP needs to get it going if they have any chance of winning games.

Best option I think is try to trade the ones we don't want in a package deal for one good player or possibly get some draft picks. Problem is their market value is crap, so not much we'd get back without throwing in at least one good prospect... but Holland isn't going to do that. Maybe use the buyout clause on a couple of the old vets and use the cap money saved for a free agent that comes available down the road. There are options if Holland want's to be creative.

Howard stood on his head tonight. He really impressed me. If the forwards could start putting the puck in the net more to help him out the Wings got a shot for the playoffs. Was really hoping Nyquist would put one in the back of the net tonight... but he'll get more chances.

Yeah Howard was really great. Nyquist is still learning that some moves might work often in the AHL but not in the NHL against bigger, stronger, faster and smarter defensemen (Quincey not included )
