I like Corey Potter, like you said, he's a cheap defenseman that could turn out to be well worth it. He had a period last season where he was on fire on the PP, and everyone loved him. He sort of took a dive and people lost faith. But it seems like he's going to be sticking around for a bit and hopefully develops into something we all want, he's still got some learning to do.

LOL. Dont feel bad. If he sucked he sucked. Which he did. Will he have a better game next game. Perhaps. Dont feel bad for calling it like you see it. If he cant handle someone talking about his game then he has bigger problems.

I am with you on this blog Cloutier, he had a terrible game and was pissing me off, but at the end of the day when he scores that goal, i will be cheering my ass off for Potter!

Defensive lapses sting the eyes more than offensive ones. Offensive brilliance is noticed more than defensive brilliance. Sucks to be a D-man.

I agree. If he can't take criticism, he's in the wrong profession... It comes with the territory. Suck it up and play better.

Meh. It can't hurt for Cloutier to elaborate on what he said. Also, I don't know that Potter took it personally, just that he was getting involved with a fan that outright said he was bad.

I didn't think the first goal was his fault in the first place. Dubnyk has to pick up the 45ft shot.

The second goal was just typical Oiler defense. 4 guys watching as an opponent left alone in front of the net scores. It happens about 50 times a season.

In retrospect, Potter had a right to be annoyed. It was the first game of the season after a six day training camp and no pre-season games. It's almost a ridiculous expectation to think everyone would play brilliantly. Furthermore, it's more like Whitney/Potter had a difficult first 30-40 minutes. They, like most of the rest of the team, found their game as play continued. Chances are, Whitney/Potter will look better tonight against San Jose.

You were both in the wrong to a degree, but you both also had reason to say what you did. On another note, how about them Flames, eh?

At least you're now figuring out what we all did ages ago about the fact the Oilers will NEVER be able to keep all the core together - it's just not possible & no folks, there is no home-town discounts anymore.

Other than Smyth(i love it that the Kings won the Cup after he wanted out) coming to a team for less(dumbest move he's ever made) no players will stay when they know damn well they can get paid higher elsewhere & money is everything with these guys - hell they proved that during the lockout!

Great damage control...

I'd can see Whitney traded too, but he has to help himself make that case for EDM to get something valuable in return. Potter may not be the best d-man partner for Whitney's success. I really like to see Fistric in the line up soon.

I don't know wth you're talking about, but with the salary cap there will ALWAYS be players willing to take home town discounts, or discounts on contending teams....

Didn't he just count out how the core WILL be kept together?

All I thought of when I was reading the blog was that Clout's got called out by a player and is backpedaling.

Say what you mean; Mean what you say.

Stand by your comments Clouts.

That said, I do not think Potter was horrible. He is what he is: a 6/7 Dman.

Clouts vs Potter... Simpson vs Whitney... One thing for certain is these 'social media' interactions between players is entertaining to say the least!

Does anyone else find it interesting - the current catch phrase 'it is what it is' has become an epidemic??? Every (frank)er I know uses that phrase- work, home bar etc... who knows though could be that I live in Saskatoon...
