Last place in the Northeast for the Senators? That's depressing. And unlikely, I think that spot is Montreal's to lose (win?). |

#5 NY Islanders
The Isles will make the playoffs as a record 5 teams from the Atlantic get in
Come on, take time to think these things through. How can all 5 teams make it in a 48 game season when they play each other that many times? |

Thats the thing, you never know. Last year the conversation was the same, just switch the teams around. Anything can happen, especially in a shortened season, except all 5 teams of a division making it. |

Yeah true say. That's my #1 reason for picking the Isles to finish outside of the playoffs, #2 being that they're also not particularly good. |

Ummm. 99 scored 50 in 38, not 48. And no, Crosby nor anyone else will be breaking that record. |

8-0-2 for NJ out of the gate???? If only you were ever right. I'm sure we're now doomed to go 0-8-2 out of the gate. |

Of course. I can believe that the Senators don't make the playoffs, I can believe the Senators might struggle, I just think that the odds are that one of either the Leafs or Habs (probably Habs) finish below them in the standings.
Believe me, I'd rather finish 5th in the division (and 14th/15th in conference) than 4th (11th/12th in conference). I just think the second is much more likely than the first

Gretzky did it in 39 games. If you're going to correct someone, at least be right. |

Eklund, have you seen the isles opening night roster. They are horrible on paper. Not a chance in hell they make the playoffs. Tavares and Moulson are the only top end forwards. Nielsen is a great 3rd line center but the isles have him try to do more then he is capable of. They can't play consistent, they won 3 in a row once last year and that was at the end of the season when they were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. They win 2 then lose 3-4 in a row. Them making it in over teams like Tampa, Ottawa, and Florida is not happening. Way to many questions with this team in all areas, and basically the 4-5 guys they picked up off waivers are in their starting lineup which is pathetic. I don't see them finishing better then 28th or 29th in league standings. Only team worse then them is Columbus. |

My prediction: NJ will make the post season despite being unanimously written off by all of the experts, due to the Parise's departure.
I base my opinion on the fact that they've only missed the post season twice since 1993- 1994.
I'm a numbers guy. |

If Spezza has his best season the Sens will be first in the division |

Yeah, that's the wackiest part of that prediction.
Spezza's best season, even ppg wise, would mean the Senators are scoring lots of goals, and frankly with the Sens goaltending options I don't see us getting lit up even with a pretty bad defense.
Of course if he had his statistically best NHL season (i.e. 90+ points) we should be in good shape for the President's Trophy |

Eklund I think you make your predictions a little crazy sometimes so when the season is over you can post a "hero" blog saying I told you so. But if (99.7% of the time) you are wrong and your prediction makes you look like an idiot you never mention it.
Just a couple crazy points...
Islanders in playoffs
Wild first in West
Caps AND Wings missing out
Sabres win division
I want some of the water you drink
Ill make a prediction. If ONE of your predictions are right or even close to right, you will have a big blog at the end of season saying that you predicted this correct
