Datsyuks comments are concerning. I think he goes back to Russia after his contract is up, I hope he doesnt. - wingz4life
I think he stays until he's like 40 and then goes back to Russia...at that age he will still be a star in the KHL and could play for a couple of more years. Kinda like Fedorov did.
One thing for sure is the Wings are worth watching for Datsyuk alone.

according to some people on this site hes old....
Fedorov was great with the wings.......same with all russians.)
Datz still might be the best skilled player in the world......
No problem...i didn't know it was on tv and took me a while to find a working stream. Quality wasn't good but still better than nothing.
Nice moves by Filppula, Bertuzzi and Smith in the shootout...Bert replicating Datsyuk's goal i posted. The monster doesn't look good in shootouts but Howard was good.

For some strange reason I bet the monster does well in Detroit......you just watch.)

I think he will be solid. I'd have to imagine it is hard to take all the mind games of not knowing if you're the starter or not like he had in Toronto, and even then he went on some great runs.

Exactly! thats why he will thrive in Detroit....and make Jimmy elevate his game.)
Lidstrom, I know you are enjoying retirement, but could you please come back? It's just for half a season. Thanks
- zetterberg40
Seconded.
It really can't be understated how much Lidstrom meant and how much his retirement could have a trickle-down effect on the rest of the depth chart. You could put anyone with Lidstrom and know you'd have a rock-solid top pairing. ANYONE. I mean, my goodness, he even made Mathieu Tap-Dancing Dandenault look like a legit top-4 defender for a few years.
Before you could throw Lidas with literally anybody and still have enough good pieces left over to round out two more pretty good pairs. Now who's the second best blueliner on the team? White? Quincey? Colaiacovo? All three of those guys are fine players, don't get me wrong, but none of them are what I'd call legit top-pairing guys. And while Kronwall is at least a solid first-pairing guy, I'm not exactly sure he's a great No. 1 either.
Put the C on the right (left) side, it's looks so wrong over there! - LeftCoaster
If I recall correctly, the reason the captaincy letter are on the wrong side is because, when the NHL introduced the new jerseys after the last lockout, they required an increase in the size of the logo on the crest of the jersey. Because of the shape of the Red Wing logo (highest point in the upper right), there wasn't enough space between the crest and the logo for the patch.
But I agree, even after all these years it still looks stupid.
