A good idea in theory but I'm thinking it would take a lot more to get O'Reilly or Benn than it would to get Luongo.

O'Reilly had a career year. I don't expect him to put up more than 55 pts again. Benn on the other hand...

Maybe you are right about O'Reilly and maybe you aren't, even so he will still be a 2nd line center and a very solid two player. He could be had for less than Benn, but still more than Luongo. I also freaking love Jamie Benn. I love everything about his game. I'd give up a lot to get him, and that's what it would take. I don't see why they would ever trade him though, and I'll bet he signs something comparable to the Hall/Eberle contracts or slightly less before very long here.

Seriously though, I'd trade Yakupov+ for Benn. Sounds crazy, but I would.

oreilly and benn are both unreal. if either is traded those teams should shake their heads unless the return is crazy.

The leafs should sell all their assests and rebuild, don't make the same mistake Calgary made just my view on things. Not many teams can't rebuild while having a good team like vancouver did.

It would take alot more than just Yak to get him, so it doesnt sound crazy.

If Magnitogorsk is willing to pay O'Reilly more than the $4M they're already paying him, no thank you. I wouldn't even give him $4M on a new contract, let alone the trade price Colorado is going to demand. He's a good player who had a pretty good season last year but it's just too big of a risk.

Not necessarily. The first overall pick from the last draft for a RFA who Dallas can't sign anyway? Doesn't sound that bad from the Stars perspective. Not that it would ever happen...

Vancouver is old and getting near the end of their peak. Toronto is not making the same mistakes Calgary is making, at this point in time. Two completely different paths.

Maybe a little more, but definitely not a lot more. They would be getting a player back they could potentially build their team around. Especially enjoying his entry level deal.

A lot more than a 1st overall pick? Obviously nobody knows how he is going to pan out but in this day and age of scouting it would be pretty unbelievable if he didn't turn into a top 6 winger who scores 30-35 goals and 60-70 points in a season. Then again maybe he doesn't who knows but all this speculation means nothing cause the Oilers wouldn't trade him without seeing how he pans out first nor would anybody be willing to give up what it would take to get him before they saw. I was just saying I'd give up a lot from an Oiler's perspective to get him.

I would trade Phil Kessel, even up, for Jamie Benn. We get the grit and toughness angle and Dallas gets the speed and finesse. Sounds like a fair deal for both clubs. The best part, is that we bury that awful deal with Boston.

Toronto and Calgary aren't the same thing at all. Calgary has consistently tried to band-aid an old team that's no longer able to compete. Toronto is thin in top end talent but has lots of depth and youth.

All Toronto's prospects havn't done jack shizz. Even when our players get old we have young players that will do what the sedins and Kesler did for Vancouver when North west express got old.

When did I say they did? And no, your team doesnt have young players to fill the Sedins shoes. You appear to be on drugs with some of the stuff you're saying.

Enjoy the waterslide down to oblivion, just like Calgary. Your on the same path. Another early exit from the playoffs is instore for the Canucks. Next year, fighting to get into the playoffs. The year after, just missing the playoffs. Then you can look in the mirror and see a Flames jersey looking back.

This is just the sort of stuff Canucks fans say. I don't think they actually believe it. They can't.

The problem with that trade from the Dallas perspective is that scoring wingers are easier to come by than centers who possess Benn's package of skill, size, toughness, and exceptional two-way game. Not saying that proposal is ridiculous in terms of value, but when you consider how different types of players have different values to different teams, the wheels kind of fall off the bus.

Still lots of Time, kesler still young. Kassian, Corrado, Schroder, Connaton, Jensen, prospects coming in luongo deal, Eddie Lack, 3 years before sedins decline to draft more first round prospects. I'd say were pretty well off.

Can you imagine a pp unit with Benn, Hall, Eberle, Nuge and Schultz, Would be the best pp unit in the league or right up there with Malkin, Crosby, Neal, Letang etc.

I would say their window of opportunity is shrinking but they still have a few years left of being a very solid contender. San Jose is in a much worse position in my mind. It's do or die time for the Sharks.

Kesler is all broken down now. Horrible list of prospects. Just horrible. Id say you should start worrying now.
