It is just hitting me how horrible this team looks on paper... Granted Kovy is across the pond and JJ is hurt but is JJ ever healthy?
Edit: forgot Henrique too. I dont know why Lou didn't make a pitch to someone like Eric Fehr. He's NHL caliber, cheap, and has some offense and defense. Maybe he'll make a move for Hemsky, I think a Czech connection with Hemsky, Elias, Zid, and maybe Sykora would be solid
was just in the kings blog and apparently the kings waived hickey I know we are deep on d anyways but would he be someone we kick the can on low risk high reward or is he completly ruined what do you guys think
since I haven't posted here in a while, its time for an essay.
I consider Darche to be a mix of a Prust and Pandolfo. Idk where he'll fit.. I think its obnoxious and annoying we're looking at Darche and signed Barch and Janssen. We lose Poni, Sykora and Parise.. and bring in Darche, Barch and Butler.
Sykora was slow; everyone could see that. He got his goals off of faceoffs and being in the right place at the right time, which comes with being a veteran with a great shot. But outside of that, he was a liability and one of the slowest players on the ice. This is why I he couldn't stick through the playoffs.
They're banking on Butler and team play making up for some of the goals lost. If he's playing with talented players, and motivated by our leadership and coaching staff, hopefully he'll be able to contribute 25g/25a. That would be a dream.
Tedenby doesn't look like he's going to cut it. It's a big disappointment. Matteau won't be ready, I highly doubt it. .. even though he does have the size to play in the NHL.
idk what we're going to do with Kovalchuk at RW. We don't have any LWs outside of Elias and Gionta.. and Darche. and Elias may be at center.
oh.. btw, we lost Oates and ROBINSON. we're going to miss Robinson, but at least we still have Barr running the PK. meh.
To start the season?.. YES, Matteau will play the first 5 games of the season, and then most likely be sent back to juniors so as not to burn a year off his ELC
We need Henrique back asap. I think he'll move Zubrus to wing, or move to LW in the top 6.
After Matteau leaves, before Henrique comes back, I guess Barch will get in the lineup.. or maybe tedenby.. or Janssen.. and Bernier moves up? idk. who knows. This is ugly. I wish Matteau was ready to be a 2nd line LW.
and i think eventually the coaches will wake up and put Kovy back at LW.. where he should be.. and move Zubrus or Butler to his RW. After that happens.. if these guys play to their potential, this isn't as bad of a lineup as we thought.
