Stolarz played last night in London for the knights against Ottawa.....he had a good first period....but gave up 4 goals in the second....3 on the pp......they went on to win 10-5.....he is now listed at 6'6..... Big, kid, a little awkward....he did stop 33 of 38 shots......as well Laughton played against another Flyers prospect.....Derek Mathers...the tough guy played defence last night....he was also named team captain....check out out his last 3 fights in the last two weeks on Hockeyfights.com...wow ....Laughton played well, had a helper on Boone Jenners pp goal....he plays the point on their pp.....he also missed a in the shoot out.....the announcers said they expect Laughton back in a couple of weeks...I switched back and fourth.....two pretty good games...but I have watched enough junior for now..thank god the NHL is back....

Syvret should be called Crash Syvret.

I was looking at Foster last night on youtube. He can get that shot off very quickly. If the Flyers can get him some set piece opportunities, he could be pretty lethal, or at the very least create some rebound opportunities.

Of course a lot of those set piece opportunities come off face off wins in the offensive zone, which this team ain't none too good at.

I'm going to beat the drum again for Jesse Winchester, UFA center from the Ottawa Senators, to be signed. He's strictly a 4th liner, but is a good faceoff man who can be used on the PK. I'd rather see them add a Winchester than burn a year off Scott Laughton's ELC.

Season hasn't started yet, and unfortunately the Flyers blueline is already ravaged by injuries. Bringing Foster in for depth isn't a bad move.

Depth defenseman. Not sure he is going to make a difference one way or another. The game has changed (we all know this) so speed is becoming more of a factor and according to most he has no wheels which is a serious concern.

Short of making a trade and giving up a quality player there is no way to get a difference maker on the blueline at this point. Foster at least does have one strength, he's got a very hard accurate shot.

From the OHL reporters and bloggers I follow and read, the consensus is that Laughton isn't ready yet. But of course the Flyers often determine their own timetable for youngsters.

While it is possible that Laughton could be another Couturier, I fear he'll be a Sbisa-show flashes, hit the rookie wall and end up wasting a season off his ELC for no good reason.

For instance, there were plenty of times where I thought Grossmann was about to get the gate for holding any moment, and they just let play continue.

Thats a very accurate statement. It's been very inconsistant at times but more often than not a guy like Foster will head to the gate for that style of play.

Lou Lamoriello thought enough of Foster to trade for him last year. The games I saw Foster play in NJ he played pretty well. I may be in the minority, but I think he can help the Flyers.

Really? I did not know that. 48 games in less than 100 days seems like its going to be a serious grind. I just hope the old mans (timmonen) body holds up bc the Flyers need him big time this year.

hadn't even thought of winchester. at the very least, he'd be a good PTO candidate.

I'm not overly excited about a signing for Foster. I'd rather the Flyers go with what they have now. And save the Cap space for a better move later. But I'll also keep an open mind and judge Foster on his play, if the move does happen. Hopefully the signing is for less than a prorated 900K.

Only concern about that is last year they had a full training camp and pre-season. This year guys been playing overseas but the game is completely different than the NHL. Will see what happens but im expecting to see a lot of hamstring, groin, and fatigue early on. I could be wrong but will see.

It was kind of in jest, but setting Foster for one timers off face offs or set plays off the cycle seem to be the best way to get him opportunities.

I love how in NHL13 when you play against the computer they can deke around jesus, hurdle mount everest, and hit like a truck.

But when you play WITH the computer, their play resembles the play of a 3 year old who just learned how to pee in a toilet.

There's quite a few flaws, for sure....but in a week it won't matter
