Apart from the contract - how is Redden's play?

First! Do you think Sather can somehow trade Redden to the Habs and get their best D-prospect in return? Unprecedented

Not first!

Agreed, they could have ratified this thing electronically, in camp by today or tomorrow and open a 50 game schedule, but that would make too much sense for these clowns!

If your an owner aren't you on the first plane to NYC to get this signed? And if your a player don't you push to vote on it immediately? I really don't get it..

Just checked hockeydb ... looks like he hasn't been playing in the AHL this year ... know if it's a contractual thing ie 1 way NHL contract so couldn't play in the A? I wonder if PC wouldn't take a look at him if he's bought out ... if he comes super cheap I could see Chiarelli working the old Sens connection there.

Rangers certainly didn't want to pay Redden during lockout, no chance he was staying in the A during lockout no matter what

he's technically on the rangers roster. The rangers decided not to transfer his salary before the lockout started. Once the CBA is in place he will be sent to hartford.

Just hopping on to what was suggested in the last thread about saving our buyout for two offseasons: By then, we lose almost all of our contracts, including Gabby at 7.5. Who would they buyout at that point? Unless something weird happens like Nash becomes a head case and cant score...

Edit: Nice job Jan. As more information comes to light and numbers are calculated, it seems like the cap wont be an issue for us.

If his salary counts regardless put him on the roster and let him compete for a spot. He appears to have handled his years in purgatory like a true professional and should be hungry to compete for an NHL spot. If he plays, and plays well, he may create a trade opportunity for himself. If he doesn't you still have an experienced blue liner on the roster to fill in for injuries. Buy him out next summer if you have to.

I would rather not see redden with this team. He was a disaster when he was here the first go around. He's not in game shape and he's no physical enough. Rangers can just go with Bickel, Eminger and Stralman,

once the season starts redden will be a bus to hartford. so it's not a problem.

It appears Wade Redden would count at $5.6M against #NYRangers cap if buried in minors: $6.5M-$900K. Impact: http://capgeek.com/rangers/
