With these new rules, it just gets even less appealing for the leafs. No way they pay anything worthwhile to get penalized (worse than van I might add) down the road.

No way.

Pretty much every insider has said that Bozak would be part of the package. Do you consider that something worthwhile?

No. Any more than that would be. That said, regardless of what we give up, that contract is not worthwhile.

$5.5M for a legitimate no. 1 goalie is not that bad. They length is obviously an issue, but he's not going to play out the full length of his contract.

Only if Vancouver holds onto him until the summer, when Theodore's contract expires.

The Panthers have Jose, Clemmensen and Jacob Markstrom, they do not need Luongo and they cannot afford his salary.

Dude, stop trying to convince me to want something youre trying to get rid of. You like it? Keep it.

Even if he doesnt play it all out, have you not been paying attention? There is still a cap hit. For both teams.

No Thank You.

Careful what you say now. You will look pretty silly in two weeks when you try to tell us the new 34 year old Leafs goalie is the best in the league.

I don't buy it, does Keenan still have friends in Florida? And what's with John Shannon being so sure that the deal is already done, this is the first time I've heard him say something like that. Am I really supposed to believe that he's a trade rumour insider now? I think Lu stays in Vancouver this year and then we see him shipped out this summer, possibly at the draft to Toronto or Florida, or maybe a team like San Jose or possibly Philly if they buy out Bryz but I doubt they want another long-term goalie contract. We could also see another team potentially emerge if a young goalie like Lindback or Holtby struggles big time this year.

The buyout is extremely expensive so I'm not sure if Aquillini will pony up.

So why don't they trade Schneider for the piece that pushes them over the top if Luongo is so good?

You need a new script.

Retiring early makes it worse.

But seriously, best of luck.

I have no problems with keeping the stance im taking now. That hes a good goalie, but I dont want any part of that contract, not at his age.

Im not worried or against having Luongo on this team. I am against giving up young assets and taking that contract.

I hope Keenan is right. All Luongo does, is screw up the cap, kills any chance of a bottom 5 finish and takes any chance away, to acquire a goaltender that's on the rise, for when the Leafs actually do become competitive. Tank this season and go for it in October. One more elite forward is what the doctor ordered.

The more I think of it, I cant imagine his trade value being very high at all. I certainly wouldn't want any part of him if I was Burke personally, even though I'm not a big Reimer/Scrivens fan I'd just wait until this summer to see what unfolds.

Vancouver has only one thing to worry about. His last few years, if he retires early. Never underestimate GM stupidity. Someone will take him, and over pay to do it.

We dont even have an elite forward prospect, which is why this team should be patient.
