some nuggets from the owners offer

The league's insistence on five-year limit has been a major sticking point with players, who countered Dec. 6 with a willingness to limit deals to eight years.

_ Term limit on player contracts moves to six years from the five years NHL asked in previous offers (7 years if you're re-signing your own player);
_ Year to year salary variance moves from five percent (NHL's previous offers) to 10 percent;
_ Each team will be allowed one compliance buyout prior to 2013-14 season which will not count against the salary cap but will count against the players' share;_ The Make Whole provision stays at $300 million.

Take the deal...

If this is the deal the players take, do you think the Islanders let DiPietro go?

Don't forget about who we are dealing with here. All DP would have to say is I want to stay. They'll probably buy out Taveras

How many times have you been blind sided by this same thought. Countless times for me. "They wouldn't do that would they?".... Oh yes they would!

It is really funny how they make you question common sense. It's also funny how I could totally see them not buying him out

Wrong. I think he has 8 seasons left after this. At 4.5 per thats 36 million. A buyout would be 24 mil. Wang would Probaby roll the dice and figure he will retire due o injuries in 5 years or less and save a few bucks

Stroke 2 goals today

Reinhart apparently played very well , and finished with +2 and 1 assist, Hamilton finished 0 across the board

Don't you need his salary to help you reach the salary cap floor minimum?

They have enough holes elsewhere to fill that money gap, plus I still don't think they would buy him out because we have the worst owner in all of sports

They'll give Boyes a 10,000,000 bonus if he scores seventy in a 48 game season. There you go, then they can trade Hamonic for a 2nd and buy out DP and still reach the floor.

Are you kidding me, Wang is already pissed that when the contract with DP is up, He would be limited to only 7 years on resigning him!

I love that Strome and Nino are putting up numbers. Anytime our prospects are playing this well their stock skyrockets. Very good for bargaining. Now im not saying rush to trade strome, but it costs nothing to listen. Other teams start to over pay when they really want someone.........and they really want someone when they start performing like Strome and Nino have been.
