While it stinks for Nashville, they should have done whatever was necessary to lock up Weber the first chance they had instead of just a 1-year deal.

Good topic, I liked reading the different ways that the lockout affects different players. Good job as always Ian.

Agree with your selection of McDonald for the Blues... though I could see just saying the whole team, like Nashville. Blues were decimated by the last lockout fan wise... but have slowly built up a good young team, and doing so at the cap floor, and refusing to sign anyone to the ridiculous contracts being handed out. They had built up fan support again, and last year finally took a massive leap forward, one win from a Presidents trophy, first playoff series win since before the last lockout... and now another lockout year. It's highly question whether, after sitting and losing money this year, the owners will be able to keep the team together. Shattenkirk, Berglund, and especially Pietrangelo are all in line for big raises the team might not be able to give them.

I've been told by many who frequent this site that the PT is insignificant. Sorry.

President's Trophy for a team with pre-season expectations of being in contention for a Cup= insignificant.

President's Trophy for a team with pre-season expectations of being close to making the plaoffs= significant.

PT is significant no matter what the expectations are. Obviously playoff success supersedes any type of regular season success, but regular season success is still success, none the less.

I don't think individual players will hurt as much as the entire NHLPA/NHL will hurt.
Everyone talks that the fans will be back. I really doubt they will. I think the NHL has crossed the drop dead date by the fans.

I don't see Nike Molsons NBC CBC Kraft all ligning up to sign new contracts with these clowns.

I see teams like TB FLA PHX NJ ST.L CAR NYI OTT COL CBJ ANA DAL playing to crowds of under 7 000

Teams like SJ LA DET WASH NASH BUFF playing to crowd under 12 000

The other teams will play to sell outs until they start losing.

I hope this league stays locked out for years and never settles . I hope players come back to 2 million dollars max salaries.

I hope the mayor of Edmonton gets his wish and the Stanley Cup gets awarded to Canada's top amatuer team.

I guess what I am saying is NHL can go Fuk themselves.

I think that the Mayans were misquoted .

The Mayan Cheif told the the Prime Minister of Canada way back before extinction that the End of hockey would be DEC 21 2012 when the NHLPA decertifies and the NHL disbands . The Prime Minister went back and told all Canadaians it was the end of the world . Thus the rumour.

Why would Edmonton want that? It's not their team that will get it. Okc has the same issue as the oilers, they can't keep it out of their own net.

Toronto and abb would get that shot

The Stanley Cup is not owned by the NHL and was originally suppose to be awarded to the top Canadian Amatuer team. The NHL stole it.

I guess the mayor is a frustrated hockey fan who wants to tell the NHL FO too

Yah I thought that to when I looked the Zblues I over.

Lose Andy, Jamie and Jason is a huge hole in terms of leadership and then there is the question of locking up three tree you mentioned.

It would not shock me to see them have to deal one of them because of money.

Preds could definitely lose some revenue with Suter gone and the lockout.

I believe he said "amateur team", the Barons are a professional hockey team.

It would be nice to see them award it at the JR championship . That would smack Buttman right across the face. Donald Fehr could do the presentation

Looks like Jensen is going to get some NHL help on AIK. They've aquired/signed Kristian Huselius. There has been talk around here about the Canucks grabbing him actually.
