What do you think Stefan Matteau's chances are of making the team and I was also kinda curious as to why Reid Boucher didnt even get an invite he is having a pretty decent year good read and can't wait for the tournament to start

Unfortunately, It doesn't matter when this team opens camp.....they will be bad either way. I hope they prove me wrong.

Boucher had a tough go in Lake Placid, i know he was dealing with an injury and didn't play a couple games, but he also had very little chemistry on the ice. They tried him in a bunch of different spots, but nothing really clicked for him. Some argue that he should have been invited simply to play with Galchenyuk, but a) you'd take away a spot from someone who is more deserving with more skill and versatility and b)what if he gets hurt....then what? Where do you fit him in?

Matteau is bubblicious for me. I have serious concerns about his speed...or lack there of, especially on an olympic sheet.

He is on pace for a better season that Stamkos and Yakupov in their last years with the Sting. This is amazing since he is coming off a season with only 2 games played. Some fans in Sarnia say they have never seen a Sting player dominate like Galchenyuk has in the past 2 months.

Both left the next year unlike Galchenyuk So this doesn't really mean much

There is no place for logic in a Julie Robenhymer thread.

I know Galchenyuk is a year older than those two were, but the year off should count for something. The ages 16-18 are considered the most important development years of a hockey player. Missing the age of 18 with injury would normally be devastating. I would expect a so called "scout", although very amateur, to know this.

He's keeping himself from a once in a lifetime experiences. Rules are rules, he should've been smarter knowing that the WJC was around the corner.

He should have been smarter period, World Juniors or not. I understand the CHL is strict, but if you lay a hit that warrants 10 games, you did something stupid. It's nobody's fault but his own.

The year off should count for something, but not enough to overcome a year difference of mental and physical maturity.

While Gal may have been off from hockey for a chunk of the season, it doesnt mean he still wasnt working out and developing physically as he rehabed and prepared to continue his career.

That said, you cant go half-assed about the injury card. If its going to be played now to make him seem better than Stamkos and Yak, then that same injury makes him less valuable on the premise of it coming back to haunt him at some point later in his career..ala damaged goods.
