MacKinnon and Drouin need to be paired together. It's wild to think otherwise. These two have unmatcheable chemistry heading into this tournament and can be the offensive dynamo outside of the Nuge line.

Where are the thoughts? Or are you asking us?

Tough to see Corrado get cut, but the fact that he was even invited to camp is great for a late pick.

cant believe they cut brossoit. by all accounts he was killing it.
cut some size and sandpaper in wilson and mcneill too. guessing they didnt like their skating on the big ice.

other than that, im alright with the team.

corrado was always a homer pick esplen. he was always a longshot with a bunch of guys ahead of him. came a little closer than i thought he would though as he was pretty solid, if unspectacular. cant say there's anyone on our blueline ida cut for him

absolutely love the two kids made it, although i dont see any way they get into the top 6 since they need to be placed together. they give us probably the best third line scoring touch in the tourny

According to Ferraro and Mckenzie he should have been a lock based on his performance in the mini camp, and the Canada-Russia challenege. The fact that he was cut shows that the performance in this mini camp meant nothing, and the team was picked already.

He was competing against Spott's lovechild Ryan Murphy.

i can agree that murphy mighta been a homer pick for spott, but those two werent really competing.
murphy is a pp qb and wont play big defensive minutes. his 5 on 5 mins will be limited.
if corrado makes the team he's a solid, dependable, 3rd pairing guy. probably only 5 on 5

they werent competing for the same role.

id say maybe reinhart and corrado..

Another two goals for Archibald tonight. Another quiet night for Kassian. Archie is stealing his thunder right now...

Kassian 21 games 6 goals
Archibald 6 games 4 goals

Reinhart has been absolutely horrific this year. If this was his draft year he would have fallen well out of the top 10. Every D outside of Hamilton, Reilly, Harrington and Ouellet was competing against Murphy for a spot. It's sad because Cody Ceci should have been at camp over Murphy if you want offense and who's at a high level right now.

horrific is a big stretch. he's been pretty mediocre in comparison to what we've seen of him. how often have u watched the oil kings this year? reinhart played pretty good in camp, and is showing signs of getting back to form. his upside is much higher than corrados.

u named the 4 locks, and while technically it's true the rest of the field were fighting for 2 or 3 spots, that doesnt mean that everyone else was competing for the same role.
its not just the best 6 defenceman. they need pp guys and defensive guys. minute eaters and pp qbs.

do u think shinkaruk shoulda made the team for 4th line duties? hes more talented than those guys in those spots wouldnt u say?

we're arguing apples and oranges.
ryan murphy and corrado wouldnt have played the same roles on team canada.
corrado literally had 1 open spot to go for and a bunch of guys to beat to get it

I'll watch the games against Russian and the Americans but I don't understand why anyone would spend 2 or 3 hours of their life watching the blowouts.

I meant I'm currently overseas working, they won't be showing any games over here, but I'll be cheering just the same.

Anybody else read that puck daddy article about the European agents being told to get ready to lose the NHL players next week?

Said they've been told the lockout will end next week and a Jan 2nd start is expected.

Trying not to get my hopes up....again, but Id be lying if I said they're not.

Frankie did good. Nearly played his way onto the team, and I've seen many non-Canuck fans say that they thought he deserved to be there. He definitely turned a few heads.

Defensively I don't think reinharts been worse than normal
Offensively he isn't on the pp anymore. Coach uses 5 forwards for first unit

Nice to see the Wings having 2 prospects on the team (pretty rare) although Paterson likely won't see any games unless the two others bomb. Too bad Sproul didn't make it but most didn't have him getting invited in the first place...plus he wasn't going to beat out Murphy for a spot even if he would have outplayed him.

Will be more interesting to watch team Canada this year although i will still follow the other teams with Wings prospects closely.

He wasn't on the team last year, and he didn't get an invite because there are a ton of guys outperforming him. There guys that got got cut that have 2x as many goals and pts.

Corrado was up against it trying to make the team. He was competing against a guy who plays for the coach, their stats are pretty equal and Corrado doesn't have any international experience and the other guy did. Corrado played well, I was pretty impressed. But it came down to taking the guy the coach knows well and has the experience.
