That's what I'm talking about!
On an unrelated note, I'm watching the end of the 12/5/11 Pens game against Boston and nearly half of the seats in the first three rows behind the glass are empty with a couple minutes left.
Embarrassing. |

Yeah, who's interested in a possible comeback against a Boston team on a 13-0-1 roll with Seguin, Chara, Lucic squaring off against James Neal and Malkin, among others.
Beat the traffic!
I think that might be my new slogan going forward, thanks Brian.
(It's better then that rally song the Washington Capitals had in 24/7) |

That's what happens when you price "meat and potato" people out of those seats and replace them with sushi eaters. |

-- Think the NHL is going badly? Business TV channel, CNBC, sports a “Fiscal Cliff Countdown" ticker, down to the day, hour, minute and second. At least we all can deduce the deadline for the U.S. budget.
Awesome
CNN must be so pissed they didn't come up with that first. |

Duh! Crosby has been a very large part of the problem. I assume the strong Penguin contingent has something to do with trying to get his thinking realigned. |

Or.... Crosby's strong relationship with his ownership group has improved the tone of the negotiations.
But go ahead and hate.... |

I don't have any hostility towards Crosby or the Penguins. I do believe the NHLPA used Crosby in a manner that was highly destructive to his image. I believe that there are two major rehabilitations taking place today. One is to heal the image of Crosby as an international hockey persona and all the Pittsburgh delegation is deeply vested in that enterprise. The other is trying to soften the image of a couple of hard owners, Jeremy Jacobs in particular.

Talk about going off the deep end and inventing fantasy. How exactly did the PA use Crosby in a manner that was highly destructive to his image? |

Toews hurt his image IMO. Crosby issued ultra vanilla statements the entire process. Never once attacked owners or made controversial statements. |

“Over the past few weeks, Crosby, Burkle and Lemieux have privately discussed plans to bridge the gap between players and owners,” a player said. Citing sources, the paper said all three had grown frustrated with the lack of progress.
“Crosby also will not break ranks with the players’ union, but his objective over the past week has been to establish common ground among players who have lost trust in NHL ownership and management as a whole,” sources said.
What a jerk. |

I just hope this thing gets resolved, don't care if it's Crosby/Lemieux or whoever spearheading the movement towards resolution. Curious, though : if it were Ovechkin/Leonsis at the forefront, how would you guys feel ? |

That's what I don't understand.... I've heard every statement Crosby has made and I didn't hear anything that was remotely controversial. Just like you say, it's been his usual vanilla comments. Every word was guarded. I'm amazed how people can just make this stuff up.....

It shouldn't matter, but I think it was offered up here that some (i.e. Crosby/Pens haters) might prefer a lost season to a resolution facilitated by Crosby/Pens. Just curious as to whether there were any who would feel the same way about a couple of guys who seem to be universally hated by Pens fans. |
