I'm encouraged, but by no means am I jumping for joy and expecting a deal to be announced today or tomorrow.

I don;t think I'll be really pumped until I see a puck dropped.

If the players and owners gain traction and this ultimately leads to a resolution, what does that say about the job bettman and fehr have been doing?

Bill,

What is the status of Mezzy's injury? Will he be ready to go if the season starts?

Thanks.

There is a chance Meszaros will be ready if the season starts in late December/early January. My view, however, is that it's wiser to take a little more time, especially since he also had rather delicate back surgery last season before the achilles tear.

The fact that they are going to negotiate before the BoG meeting makes me think they are close enough to strike a deal.

If they don't announce a deal today, at the very least, I hope they announce a deadline for when they will cancel the season. As a fan and a STH, I would like some idea that this lockout is going to end, one way or the other.

No need to get excited until the deal is signed and the schedule is announced.

It says nothing other than those two men got the sides to a certain point and then passed the negotiations to others to continue.

If the implication is that "well, these guys suck and they should've just done this in the first place," I couldn't disagree more.

With this lockout most likely coming to a resolution soon, my memory has been jogged that JVR isn't a Flyer anymore. I half forgot about it

Somehow this lockout i think is beginning to benefit the flyers. Timmo getting rested up, Mezzy getting healthy, and the youngens (schenn and couts) getting a lot of playing time coupled with the teachings of murray i think is a big plus.

I agree. It's more likely that the League finally relented off of it's my way or the highway, and we wan't everything stance. And are willing to atleast discuss a deal that both sides might be interested in.
