Bill, any thoughts on the Steve Burton report about the lockout possibly ending this week? How credible is Burton? (link: http://boston.cbslocal.co...wards-ending-nhl-lockout/)

I want to believe it, given the Board of Governors meeting on Wednesday, but right now, I won't believe anything until I see an actual schedule of games.

I will believe it when I see it. I don't buy the story itself or the automatic denials to be the whole truth. I suspect it's wishful thinking, but I hope I'm wrong.

Burton is credible enough to have sources, even if he's not a "hockey guy". But how much Burton's source on this is either accurate or alternatively, trying to dial up pressure for a deal by planting a story that a settlement is close and hand, I have no idea.

hearing about all of these defenseman taking a few years to develop in the minor leagues makes one think that L Schenn might turn out to be a beast because he made a pro team at 18...Cant wait till the first game with pittsburgh.

Good stuff, Bill. I've been reading the blogs on my Kindle lately, and I figured I should let you know somewhere in the process a lot of punctuation doesn't translate properly (particularly quotation marks and apostrophes), leaving a mess of characters in its place. It doesn't make it unreadable (I'm certainly not cancelling my subscription over it ), but I figured I'd give the heads up.

Really excited to see a guy like Ghost- he could turn out to be one heck of a valuable player (both because of his play and of his draft selection).

Just make sure you eat your Wheaties, kid

Holy Smokers Bill, aren't you getting tired of blogging about the guys in Sweden and Junior, there is no info on this site at all anymore worth reading about.

Oh, so reading about the Flyers' prospects isn't worth it?

I can say with 100% certainty that anything and everything that Bill blogs here is well worth the read and on par with TSN or NHL.com stories.

In fact, I'd rather read a Bill offseason blog than an "in season" story on whatever is going on in the NHL on any of those websites.

So Bill, keep up the great work! You'll always have a reader in me

That makes me sad.

Not because he won't be playing hockey.

Because he has to live his life like that. It's just terrible....

Sorry may have worded it wrong, Just meant Bill must be getting tired of doing it and not writing about the NHL players as it is a tough read everyday to report on games in Europe and not nearly as enticing.

has the nhl gone under yet? I'm just in that kind of mood. Noone seems to be able to get their sh*t straight these days. The government is about to push the country over the cliff and the NHL is fighting about stupid stuff. Just get it done. Put your ego away and do your job.

Thanks Bill for keeping us updated on all things Flyers related. Maybe you should take a shot at getting this lockout solved and next up crack some heads in DC.

I don't want to talk politics. But isn't the Fiscal cliff negotiations and the lockout negotiations eerily similar. The same BS. It's amazing.

I'm not trying to bring up politics because that just causes problems, but these things are really pissing me off. As I said I'm in a terrible mood tonight, so I've had enough of this stupid B.S.

I need hockey to take my mind off things. I've hit that breaking point. Neither side wants to bend because they think they will look weak, so as far as I can tell this season is over. While they are at it why not cancel next season as well.

Well the meeting today has lasted over 5 hours. Apparently they're having a dinner break, and then resuming. I'd say that's promising.

John Shannon ‏@JSportsnet
Hearing that progress was made in the meeting. Owners expect to continue talks tonight.

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
Now told it's not necessarily certain talks will resume after dinner. So let's put it this way: break at 730ET...we'll see where things go.
