I always write extensively about the Phantoms whenever they have a game day, the day after a game or when there is an injury update or whatnot to pass along. I'm nowhere near Glens Falls, so attending and reporting on practices during the week is out. But on game days, I do rather lengthy game reports here. I've been paying out of my own pocket to see their webcasts.

The Phantoms games are mostly on the weekends -- in fact all of their games to date have been on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. So the Phantoms are ALWAYS the lead section of my blog those days. The Titans, who also primarily play on weekends, are the second section on those days.

By the way, I will be doing a lot of Titans stuff over the next couple days, because I'll be interviewing team captain Ray DiLauro tomorrow for an upcoming feature article and I'll be in the pressbox for the Titans-Royals game tomorrow night.

Great write up on Eric Lindros, he was unquestionably one of the greatest players of his time! As you mentioned, a true "generational" player. I love Bobby Clarke's quote on whether Lindros should be in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

"Yes, based on his ability to play the game and based on his contributions as a player, I think you have to separate all the crap that went on. Particularly when he played for the Flyers, it was just outstanding, dominant hockey — the first of the huge, big men with small man's skill."

I guess they figured we're all really enjoying the lockout, why curtail this somewhat rare uncommon occurrence? Once it's over, we'll probably have to wait a whole six or eight years before the next one!

Anyone who saw Lindros up close in a game saw just how powerful and fierce his game actually was. But, because his game was so physical many did not realize that he had incredibly soft hands, great vision and ice awareness and he was one of the finest skaters in the game.

I saw him playing shinny last year.

Let's just say his fitness isn't where it used to be.

But I was standing behind the net when he skated back, picked up the puck, spun around and in one motion snapped a 120-foot pass through traffic, right onto a teammate's tape.

We were laughing in the dressing room about that for about 15 minutes afterwards. Unbelievable.

5th fastest player in NHL history to score 500 points (352 GP) behind Wayne Gretzky (234), Mario Lemieux (287) & Peter Stastny (322) & Mike Bossy (349)

Truely an exceptionally skilled player; he could do it all!!

Neil Smith said it best: "sometimes some of the trades you don't make are better for you than the ones you did make"... the Flyers scouts do a better job of uncovering diamonds in the draft than any other group... it's just too bad that management has a penchant for dealing those assets to eventual Cup-winners.

It's really no small miracle that Giroux managed to avoid getting dealt before he had a chance to prove himself.

Bill, speaking of Flyers' draft picks, are you surprised that nobody's stepped up and given Joacim Eriksson an NHL contract in the time since the Flyers lost his rights?

Bryz really cant get a break...

I must say im pretty annoyed at not being able to watch the Polar bears on a regular basis... it seems the only 2 leagues with quality streaming sites are the Khl and extrliga.

I have a friend from college who lives in Augsburg GR, her boyfriend plays for the panthers, and she is trying to see if there are any ways we can view games here so if I find anything ill share it here.

When Lindros was in full beast mode there was nothing like him. There was nothing like him before he came along, and there has been nothing like him since.

He is still the best player I have ever seen in person.

Not too surprised because he didn't become a regular #1 goalie at the Elitserien level until midway through last season. If he keeps playing well, would be surprised to see an NHL team offer him a two-way contract.

I've seen him play roughly 10-12 times. He's very quick and athletic and has gotten much better in the stickhandling department. He still needs to improve his rebound control and not going down so quickly.

Elitserien is a low-scoring league, so most goalies' stats look pretty good. Even the last place Växjö Lakers' Fredrik Norrena has a GAA around 2.20 and save percentage of about .910 -- and he's ranked something like 15th in the league.

Lindros was just dominant...the he!! with all the crap that went on...it should be water under the bridge at this point.

it was a lot of fun to see Lindros finally suit in the O&B at the Winter Classic last year.

Welcome back Big E!!! the honor is well deserved and long overdue.

Elitserien (and Allsvenskan on Viasat), SM-liiga and the Swiss NLA have good sites, but they are paid subscription services and, for whatever reason, region-blocked outside their respective countries.

Quite a few Elitserien games nowadays get, um, "unofficially streamed" for free but you have to hunt them down. NLA games are harder to find streams of, and SM-liiga is virtually impossible (but they always post free game highlights on the official site within an hour of the game's completion).

The Laola and Servus TV/internet broadcasts of the DEL are good quality, but unfortunately they only show two games per week. Ditto the Austrian EBEL.

Can't wait for Mikey Miss to display his ever growing hockey knowledge

Can they drop the interview and just have Eric talk by himself?
