We can only hope!

The NHL should go to the NHLPA and say this to them: You have 30 days to agree to our current contract offer. If you decline to put it to a vote, then we will cancel the season.

If the NHL loses this season, they should say, OK, here is your new collective bargaining agreement. If you want to play in our league, you'll abide by these rules. Then open training camp and see who shows up.

Contracts are only guaranteed after playing 41 games of the season.

A hard salary cap of $50 million dollars and a cap floor of $25 million dollars.

Maximum length of a contract will be 5 years.

There will be no signing bonuses and the contract will be distributed evenly through the length of the contract.

The maximum amount that a player can make, is $6 million dollars.

Unrestricted free agency occurs, after a player plays 10 years for their franchise.

The NHL roster will consist of 23 players.

It's time to put these greedy little ba$tards in their place.

You say that the NHL isn't sure Kansas City could support a franchise. When did that ever stop the band of fools led by Bettman?? Until this pathetic excuse for a commissioner is removed an replaced with someone with at least half a brain, nothing will change.

I like this one Richard

If the season is lost the NHL should take the opportunity to reorganize itself as a whole. Which it won't, but it should. As a primarily gate driven league they should give up the dream of a national American TV deal, unless you consider $200 million per year from NBC as a dream deal?

Fold Florida, Tampa and Phoenix. Move Anaheim to Seattle when the new arena is done.

How many players, like Vincent Damphousse or Scott Stevens, will never play again in the league if the entire season is canceled?

Hopefully.

If the NHL moves to Kansas City over Quebec City or Markham/Hamilton Bettman should be drug out back of an arena and shot.

i highly doubt that the league would move tampa or the ducks who have both won cups somewhat recently, and especially the bolts who have a new owner and have yzerman working for them, and they do pretty much sell out but then again they do give out great seats out for pennies

The coyotes have an owner who can barely afford them in the first place. With further cuts on the tax breaks, I would guess they would not be in Phx for much longer. As much as I would like to see the NHL stick it to the PA and fold a team, there is waaay to much demand for an NHL team in other cities at the moment. I'm sure that's what the new owner is hoping for as well.

Tampa sells or has 18+ thousand attendance, but they charge nothing for the seats and are losing money, it's not a viable business. It's a toy for a billionaire owner.

Without an NHL season comes more financial hardship for the Coyotes, but the news gets worse.

Any franchise that's better off not playing shouldn't have a team in the first place!

Agreed. These players have no better alternative... They won't make this sort of money anywhere else on the planet. It's time for the NHL to get tough here.

And before anyone says it, no... They will not make more money in the KHL.

Hey? If the KHL wants to give them more money, then by all means, go there. Take your chances, flying around in antiquated airplanes. Put up with all of the travel and Mickey Mouse tactics. Watch and see if they'll guarantee your contract, if you don't play up to standard. North America is the home of hockey. Players? Your only as good as your last game played. The sweaters and logo's will still be here, long after your gone.
