Speaking as someone who has endured the highly original "Goin' to Kansas City" cracks for years now, I'm glad they didn't torture Isles fans and sit on the announcement. Don't really see how this impacts the dead-in-the-water lockout discussions one way or the other anyway. If you'd rather enjoy more stories with petty and pointless Bettman/Fehr media sniping instead, there's still plenty of that to read all over the place.

Good for the Islanders and their fans.

Now cancel the season.

Tim Panaccio: I can't think of any other professional league that would announce a franchise transfer in the middle of a lockout the day before it had given a deadline to find a new CBA or the full 82-game schedule simply wouldn't be played.

better than to have moving vans lineup in the middle of the night and move a storied franchise to Indianapolis in the middle of the night, a league giving an owner carte blanche to move to any city of his choosing is insane

As soon as the Winter Classic is gone, projections for revenues next season go from a 5% increase to a decrease.

Great work by the players to let it get this far. The longer this goes, the more they lose. For the most part the owners can hold out as long as it takes.

Fehr is screwing the players. The money they lose can never be recovered. The longer this goes the worst it will get and fan don't care like they did in 2004.
