Players proposal won't give anything the owners are looking for, Fehr is not known to back down from a fight, Bettman won't lose this one. Don't expect hockey until October 2013 at the earliest.

five comments in 40 minutes and no one even cares about FIST anymore.

NHL is dying.

But hey, tonight it's Dexter, Homeland, The Walking Dead, and Boardwalk Empire. Not missing the NHL yet.

Think about it..when teachers from a top school district go on strike they would never just leave and take jobs at another school district from lesser experienced teachers..

quite the comparison considering this is not a strike. if you can see the similarities, you're a smarter man than me.

also, peddling this optimism is irresponsible. the player's agent is hearing great things about the proposal? surely this means the league will LOVE it!

Bobby Ryan has gained a ton of respect from many out there for this stance as he is actually treating this like a real union...showing solidarity for other hockey players...they raised us right in Cherry Hill, NJ Bobby!

Assuming you're a Union supporter I suppose

Meh, I think Ryan's stance is more "I rather rest back home than go to Europe" than any true sign of solidarity.

They will be back this year. Right now you are seeing a big game of chicken of who can hold out the longest, but neither side can afford to miss a full season.

No chance it goes all year. If they did that, they may as well just eliminate all the teams in struggling markets because they would never recover from the damage. They are starving for fans in certain cities and a full year will kill it.

Nhlpa cannot afford to miss anymore than 3-5 paychecks pending who you are.

I am in support of guys getting jobs in Europe for this reason: it lets the owners know that most of the NHLPA members are surviving and can afford to wait out their power games. The faster the owners realize they miscalculated and need to get their heads right, the better.

unpossible

Or he did want to move just to play and stay in shape for a pretty salary. A lot of guys not playing the KHL are not making much, the cost of insurance of their contract cost the team a lot of money. Guys like Plekanec are making almost nothing, they stay and get to stay in shape whil playing a decent level. A lot people think most of those guys are making a lot of money playing there, that's not the case. In an interview on RDS, they mentioned teams in Europe get sponsor to pay the insurance of those contracts, they were saying insuring a contract with 25M left to pay cost over 50K per month.

Is anyone keeping track of how often Ek is right on his blogs? I drop by once in a blue moon when bored and have yet to read something that came true, or that someone else hadn't already reported way aheaad of him.

Its not a strike; its a lockout so comparing players to striking teachers is not the same.

Well, didn't this site get started during the last lockout with Ek claiming the season wouldn't be lost?

Gotta hold up those traditions.

the players idea of a good offer is coming down from 57% to 56% of total revenue
