I can tell you up front that fans won't like what both have to say or how I interpret what is ahead.

Since the NHL pulled its last offer off the table as of Sept. 16, I feel it's the union's job now to present something new.

It's up to BOTH sides. The NHL hasn't made any new offers and they're the ones that locked the doors. The NHLPA has dragged it's feet and resorted to rhetoric and threats on the cap. It's asinine. Both sides suck.

So, TP is essentially saying that the PA should bargain against itself. That is malpractice for anyone involved in collective bargaining. That is simply a crazy suggestion. D. Fehr knows what he is doing and he does it very well. He also knows or seems to be banking on the fact that the Owners do not want to lose the classic. That is a big pressure point and the owners will make an offer sooner rather than later. If it goes in to mid-November, then Fehr will rethink his strategy, but for now he should do nothing. It is part of the process. The owners have to begin to question their expectations and get a bit nervous--and they will this time. This is not 2004 any more. The dynamics are different.
