Kent Nilsson needs so much more love... Come on guys... 131 points! He's also the 9th fastest player to score 500 points in NHL history (372 gp) behind only Gretzky, Lemieux, Peter Stastny, Bossy, Lindros, Kurri, Trottier, and Crosby.

Yikes Nilsson needs more votes. He needs to crack the line up or we all need a big shake. Plus it's interesting how Nilsson got us newy, who got us iggy. So will the tradition continue and iggy bring in our next franchise leader?

Newy/Nilsson/gilmour are definites.

Then I went Otto. But cammy and conroy could have a strong argument.

Yep. Otto for the shutdown role. I'd add Reichel in the honorable mention category too.

Cammalleri Should be added to the list of left wingers, not really fair he's gotta compete with some of the legendary centres of old.
Wish we had one of these guys still

Wow, I can't believe the lack of love for Lanks and the excessive love for Otto. I like Otto as well but he was a defensive specialist who was stellar at faceoffs.

For me it's Neuwy, Gilmour, Nilsson & Langkow. Conny would have been my spare. Purely as a Flame, Lanks makes this list. Cammy, to me is a LW, I just have trouble voting for him as a centerman.

But yea, as a whole, it's a pretty sad group after the 1st 2. Maybe we do this in 10 years and Janko tops that list.

The roster for the Calgary Flames will be up to you fans, so make sure to vote!

nice one.
our blogger, who isnt the most knowledgeable guy at the best of times, decided to mostly pick his own team despite the votes. and made a mess of it.
not including the obvious gretzky, messiers etc of course.
a monkey coulda chosen those guys..

boris mironov and kelly buchberger...really??

I think you should preemptively add Bartschi to the wingers group

its a tough call but I'd still go otto over langkow. Otto played longer as a flame, hit the SCF twice with them, and overall points I don't think he's that much less then langkow (and Otto was 3rd line while langkow played top line with Iggy, so he should have alot more).

I agree cammy is a LW. But even at LW I don't think he'll crack the lineup with the likes of Loob, Roberts, Tanguay, Pepper ahead of him.

RW we are stacked. Iggy, Fleury, Lanny, Mullen.

And please don't put Hull on the list, thats worse then canuck fans considering Neely a canuck (or Messier and sundin)

Hate that McCrimmon is the 7th D. Should have been in the top 6 and Neon Dionne could ride the pine as the 7th man. Still, a pretty impressive D-core.

Loob, although played on the left at times, was a right winger...

There are guys like Chouinard on the wing too who were impressive:

ya...I was trying to sneak him on the left since we have 4 great RW . And thats not including Makarov and a few others that should get some votes.

Yea, but Lanks played in the dead puck era mostly while Otto was on a VERY strong CGY squad. Also, IMO, Lanks is a more versatile player as well; but, Otto was a far better faceoff guy, so....

It's a tough choice either way. Oh, and I agree with not putting Hull on there. The 4 months we had him were wonderful but, alas, it was not meant to be.

LW is looking pretty good....RW is looking great.

Because its up to you guys, we can scrap the 7th defender (included McCrimmon as the 7th because he was tied with Reinhart, but Reinhart served as a Flame longer) and have two reserve spots open for wingers?

Good call on putting Reinhart ahead, plus he was drafted by the flames, I think that should hold weight as well. I was surprised that Phaneuf was ahead of him as well.

Should almost vote for who the reserves are once we cover all the positions. These alltime lists are tough with some of the great players that come up.

Read my mind too. Otto was a Flame from start to finish & he was a beast in the faceoff circle. He's in hockey pools with my brother & I guess he gets the gears about playing for the Flames as a faceoff specialist again. I think he has a faceoff asst coaching position written all over it anyway or so everyone thinks he should. I too am guilty of picking Conny over the Magic Man, not sure why I did that
