Looks like Russia is looking for the best players that he NHL has to offer like Ovechkin, Stamkos, Crosby, Kane, Toews, Kovalchuk, Datsyuk , Zetterberg, etc. In terms of Sabres, Vanek, Pominville, Stafford, Ehrhoff, Regehr, Ott, etc.
Looking for the best players eh..... ...I see what u did there.... |

Grigorenko has already headed back to the Remparts until our training camp starts. I don't think he's even close to being a lock for this team so I wouldn't worry. Yakupov however is going to Russia if there's a lockout. Grigorenko is staying here |

If preseason production is any indication, both the 6-foot-3 Grigorenko and the Remparts could be in line for a big season under the guidance of head coach Patrick Roy. In two games versus defending Memorial Cup champion Shawinigan, the 18-year old scored twice and added three assists while clicking with 2013 draft eligible Anthony Duclair to lead Quebec to a pair of wins. Things could pick up when Nikita Kucherov, a Tampa Bay draft pick and close comrade of Grigorenko’s, joins the Remparts in November once his surgically repaired shoulder heals.
Despite garnering just one assist at the recent Canada-Russia Challenge, Grigorenko will likely join Armia at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship when the tournament kicks off in his native Russia the day after Christmas. For now, though, the skilled pivot is zeroed in on the QMJHL regular season which kicks off Friday, September 21 against Chicoutimi. - sabres.com
So I'm assuming he's going to be there for the season if we don't have one. |

That would actually be a good tactic if 10 of the top NHL players did that. I'm sure Crosby doesn't want to finish his career in the KHL, but it would be interesting to see what the owners did if the premier talent in the league threatened to leave permanently.

No, the kids still got a long way to go, needs to fill out physically. I can see him putting up close to 100pts in the Q. (If he stays healthy.) |

So what Sabres are really eligible to play in the KHL?
"- to hold at least 150 games in the NHL over the last three seasons "

Who thinks it would be a mistake if Crosby were to decide to play somewhere else?
(Given his injury history)
I would be pissed if I was a penguins fan. For the team to offer him a guarenteed contract for that length of term when he already has a history of concussions. |

I would be shocked if he went to Russia for a few million rubels and potentially put hundreds of millions in jeopardy (salary plus endorsements) |
