That being said, and no disprespect intended...really? Phoenix's position alone shows what a pile of poop ESPN is. |

I couldn't care less. Besides, ESPN isn't exactly known for their hockey coverage, are they?
Considering that Canadian teams prop up this league, it's a joke how low ALL the Canadian teams finished.
Coyotes are "the best bang for your buck?" Anyone see a problem with this?
The Wild had "best arena experience?" The Jets fans blew the roof off EVERY (frank)IN' GAME this season!
ESPN should just stick mindless "sports" like NASCAR. |

Have no problem with NJ's ranking, but what a bunch of meaningless categories as they pertain to each sport. Kind of difficult to compare ALL leagues and sports and come up with a solid or meaningful list of appropriately ranked teams/organizations.
If it were anyone but ESPN I might invest a little more stock in it. A bunch of far left liberal kooks who consider their own label to be some sort of authoritative representation of the facts. ESPN deciding "utimate" rankings throughout all professional sports based largely on intangible and subjective information is laughable at best. |

I'm a Yankees fan and they're ranked 88th. I don't care about this either but the factors they have are placed heavily on affordability of tickets and amount of money spent to "buy" championships. Obviously the Yankees spend an incredible amount every year and if you factor that the Leafs haven't won in a long time it would make sense why they are ranked so stupidly low on the list. I mean the Coyotes are ranked 6th, that's a joke. just because it costs $2.50 to buy their tickets on stubhub isn't a good thing for a franchise. |

No, their tickets are almost given and they reached the western conference finals last season. |

Nobody should ever take anything that ESPN writes seriously. Comparing TSN to ESPN is like comparing the 3 ply Scotties toilet paper to the poop 1/2 ply rough crap they give u in public stores/work.
Idc about te Devils rankings, but they have the poorest ranking info ever! I laugh laugh and shake my head at these type of things.
Hockey insiderr is more credible than ESPN. Hell we could gather up a couple of intelligent posters on this site who'd be more credible than ESPN. |

not for nothin but NASCAR involves just as much of a team as any other sport, and it is a sport.
If the technicians and mechanics don't design, build, and test a perfect racecar, it won't meet specs and pass inspection.. let alone be fast and competitive, and not fall apart. If the pit crew makes a mistake such as missing a lugnut on a wheel, the car has to come in for a penalty stop.. setting them far back in the race. They have to be fast and precise for every stop or else the team won't win the race, or place well. A mistake in development of the car can cost a race, a mistake by the pit crew can cost a race.. and vice versa. The whole operation is headed up by the 'crew chief' which is essentially a coach who calls the shots, communicates with the team, makes judgement calls on how to improve the car during the weekend/race, develops strategy for the race.. when to stop, how to manage the fuel.. 2 tires or 4.. etc. Communication between a good driver and smart crew chief is key. Then there's the spotter telling the driver where cars are in relation to his own car, very important. Team morale is huge and momentum does carry from week to week. A skilled driver is nothing if he's not a member of a great team. I don't think I need to get into why its not 'easy' to 'drive in circles' for a few hours. Just pointing out the team aspects of the sport.
sorry, just had to give a brief defense of a sport i enjoy.

Puh-Lease!
The 'Yotes had one Cinderella run and have been on the verge of leaving the damn city for years! They gave away tickets in an attempt to fill the stands to try to increase interest and put on a dog and pony show the for networks broadcasting the games.
Again, ESPN's American slanted "reporting" of hockey is BULL SHIIIIIIT!!! |

I mean, you can be angry about it but the fact that most Canadian teams' ticket prices are substantially higher than most US teams. Also based on that factor most Canadian teams aren't perennial winners. Coyotes on ice product is really good but that hasn't translated into fans or monetary success. So in those regards you are correct. If your argument was about how some stats should be weighed more than others, then I would agree with you. Yeah, ESPN is really stupid not just about hockey. They are stupid about pretty much everything. So, this really has nothing to do with them being American or not. TSN is really bad too so I don't see what your point about nationality is. |

What is wrong with these rankings?
They aren't rating the best or the worst franchises by what they put on the ice etc, they are ranking the franchises a whole. They take everything into consideration, sure combining all four leagues has its flaws, but nothing's perfect. |
