They need to get the season back. They cant let these Russians go back and play at home and see how comfortable they can be. It scares me to have these guys play hockey at home and make the same money if not more money.

Heard Malkin is looking for a weekly deal, I'd suspect others will do the same.

I suspect more and more players over the next few weeks will have contracts in place.

I know the SEL has had rumblings about not have out clauses, but they'd be foolish to say know to the Sedins are any other superstars.

I'm going to believe this one when I see it.

He still has $88 million left on his contract - and he won't see a dime of it if he gets injured in the KHL.

That's going to be a pretty big insurance contract he'll have to take out to play there.

Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it.

Kovy could prolly make more money in the KHL. If that was the case. Players are gonna wanna play and not take a year off.

It's not about one year, though.

It's about insuring the remaining $88 million of his NHL contract against a career-ending injury.

Everyone from last year was sent an invite. If managers don't respond reasonably soon then we'll have some spots available. Draft date/time can change, majority rules.

I wouldn't put it past the players to go play in the KHL. Alot of players like Kovalchuk and Ovechkin, They play internationally in the Worlds tournament every summer. So they can keep skating and playing in the down time. You think they would pass on KHL offers if there was an extended lockout..? I don't they haven't in the past either. It was during our last lockout the Elias contracted Hepatitis A playing in Europe. Fans and interest in hockey is at an all time high real shame this is happening. Myself and 3 friends are all first year season ticket holders and we have all discussed that if this season is missed you can count on us not renewing for the next year or ever again. I'll still watch but if the NHL has no problem screwing over the fans to get what they want then so be it. NFL is about to start and my NY GIANTS are reigning Super Bowl Champions that's whats up.

He could also make no money in a lockout or go make 7 to 10 million in the KHL. There will be more players to fallow.

He also has to pay for expenses. You'd have to think his expenses are pretty high, I doubt he can go without making a dime and pay for stuff. He was supposed to earn 11.6 million this year. He needs to at least make a portion of that money to survive. The only way he wouldn't is if he is a good money manager/saver, etc.

Hasn't me hade, about 40 million over his career so far? I think unless he spends very lavishly he'll be alright for one year. While he probably more expenses than the average joe, i assume he'll be ok. The interest on his accounts, from before this lock out talk and even now should be enough for him

How do you know that though?

He's building a brand new mansion in New Jersey, so how do you know if money doesn't run out. Just like how normal people need their own modest jobs to be able to pay for their expenses, he does too...

So, I think I'm going to ask for this for my birthday. I don' think I've seen anybody at a game with a Saint-Hyacinthe Laser jersey.

would love to see a team in the KHL made entirely off NHL players, they could play out of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl for one season, even if it meant lossing a lot of big name stars this up coming season (Malkin, Kovi, Ovi and other none russians) would be a great little competition between the NHL and KHL and would be great for the city. Of course all of this depends on a much needed improvement to the facilities and transportation available

That would just be unfair for the rest of the KHL

I get the impression however that KHL policy is just get as many people watching as possible to increase revenue. Seeing that they have policies for players coming from the NHL to the KHL in which their salary doesn't count towards the cap.

Not including the rollbacks that will happen too, or the penalty-less buyout phase we will get, although I really don't want to buyout anyone.

So it's settled. We buy-out Kovy, sign Pelly, and move up to Hartford.
