Hey Julie, just wanted to pick your brain on a few Canucks prospects that are playing NCAA hockey this year

Thoughts on...

MATTHEW BEATTIE
JOSEPH LABATE
PATRICK MCNALLY
JEREMY PRICE

Do you think any of them will enter the HB race?

My general thoughts are that Vancouver apparently likes their NCAA prospects to be super smart, but none of these four will likely be remotely close to the Hobey mix.

Keep your eye on Price though since it's his senior season and should get some more offensive responsibility this year. Beattie is a big unknown for me because it's his freshman year. Labate and McNally have great potential. I noticed both of them last year so we'll see what they do in their second season.

I know Price very well personally and have seen him play the last three years at Colgate. He has enough skill to put points on the board from the blueline. It will be interesting to see what he does this year. With Colgate's top two scorers from last year gone - Austin Smith to Dallas and Chris Wagner to Anaheim, I think Colgate will be relying alot on its D-core for scoring. He has the ability to shoulder the load. The only thing - he keeps his head on straight. He takes some dumb penalties.
