Condolences to the Wellwood family.

Don't know if anyone's heard of it, but Victory lane on Rt. 73 smack dab between atco and Berlin was a place I'd run into a Mr. Bill Barber and other ex flyers pretty often. One thing about Flyers players is I don't think I've ever heard or witnessed a bad off ice encounter. They are always down to earth genuine human beings, warrants an extra sense of dedication as a fan from myself.

My thoughts go out to the Wellwood family. Their grandfather sounded like a wonderful man truly dedicated to his family and to the kids of his community.

I've had the pleasure of meeting quite a few players from the SC winning team over the years. You could never meet a more nicer group of men.

One afternoon, my daughter and I met Bernie Parent. While speaking with him, my daughter (only about 10 at the time, but a girl nevertheless) noticed Bernie's huge SC ring which he was wearing. Bernie kindly took my daughter's hand, took off his ring, and placed it on her much smaller finger telling her how good it looked on her as her eyes lit up. He continued to let her wear it for the remainder of our conversation.

To this day, many years later, my daughter still fondly remembers Bernie and his kind gesture.

I never met Bernie and would love to. The first time I met Hextall it was sometime in the late 80's. My cousin and I were huge fans. My aunt took us to a charity softball game at cherokee highschool. We loved Hextall but were scared to death of him because of his antics. When we met him tho what a surprise we were in for. Guy is as harmless as 10 minute old puppy, off the ice that is!

Kaminski's is still a hangout for a lot of younger players. I live in Cherry Hill so I'm there a good amount when I'm not at school. I've seen Giroux and JVR a lot over the past year (well not JVR anymore). Carcillo and Asham used to come in when they were on the team too. Only a matter of time before Couturier and Schenn join the crew.

Met Bernie in Wildwood on Monday. What a charming and charismatic man. I was with my family- an absolute surprise, and he literally dragged in my 4 yr old niece to the picture.

What a treat.

I'm on the left, Dad in the middle, brother on the right, niece on the bottom right with the butterfly on her face.

I dunno who that dude is in the middle. Totally bombed an otherwise good (and (frank)ING BLURRY THANKS MOM) pixcher.

I was there about 3 years ago, to meet a fellow Flyers fan who now lives in California. We'd met up with 7 other fans from the old ESPN Flyers boards in 2000-01 to watch a Flyers game. Rexy's was just as I'd remembered it the only other time I was there - about 7 years ago for a family dinner with my parents and siblings.

Dad regaled us with tales of working at the liquor store he co-owned, listening/watching to the games on TV until the store closed at 10, and then heading over to Rexy's afterwards with my uncle.

This fall I'll be commuting that way on a daily basis, a visit to ol'Rexy's is definitely in the cards now.
