It depends. In his last year in Sweden he was beginning to look like he could have some 2nd line upside (Longshot), then he had a pretty average showing in the AHL. I think he can be a good 3rd line center, he has the defensive awareness. |

I see him as a Jarret Stoll type guy. Minus the points and shot he had in Edmonton. It also might be too much to ask of Lander to put up similar FO%, but the grit, hardwork, leadership and defensive play seems similar to me. |

I thought he did not too bad in the NHL. Nothing spectacular, but he wasn't really hurting us. Probably would've been better to start in the AHL to see if he could work on that offensive spark, but one thing is for sure he will be able to play the defensive side of things. |

Yup, needs to strengthen up and improve on the dot that should also help his board battles. I guess the Oilers promised him a roster spot. |

I think it could be a matter of using his size/strength better. Has some decent size already, but this was the first time he had to really use it. FO will come with time. |

Nah, Reasoner wasn't as gritty IMO. |

Is Ottawa the only team in the East that likes to draft top ranked Swedish guys. Every player is owned by the West except Filip Forsberg.
I mean....He dropped to 11th overall though. The top 10 teams basically forced him down Washington's throat
I know they were sitting there debating Grigorenko. They sat there talking for so long that TSN had to go to commercial break. With Ovie as your franchise player, Grigs probably would of been a more ideal choice, but whatever, Forsberg will be a steal considering they got him for Varlamov!!!! |

Forsberg plays in the second tier of Swedish top hockey. His play was very solid, but his raw skill never turned into the production people expected. This included the WJC's. He was a safe pick scouts were hoping could be a homerun. but his stock was overrated in the fact that outside of Yakupov and maybe even Galchenyuk the defensive group was the strongest since 2008 so people were trying to fit the next crop of forwards into teams that needed forward prospects (aka the Leafs). |

Yeah, Im not gonna lie. I almost spit out my beer when I heard Rielly's name cause I thought we had Forsberg or Grigs taken for sure, but when its all said and done, you will pay for drafting positionally over talent, and Rielly looks like a guarenteed NHL calibre prospect and could be a Leaf for a long time.
Excited to see him in the World Juniors |
