How am I first? Good read Bill

Because I am a slow reader, my dog is squirting butt juice on me while I am reading, and I havent had coffee yet.

Anyone want to put together a list of best players still playing that played there first game with the Flyers and subsequently traded?

Sharp and Seidenberg (I believe) come to mind. Others here have much better memories than I do (sleep deprivation, insomnia, and age are getting to me)

Cheers!

Awesome work, Bill. I knew about Poulin and Sinisalo but keep forgetting Tim Kerr was undrafted, that's insane and is a testament to why not getting one's britches in a bunch over what the team did draft, never know what gems they unearth outside of draft day.

As for Poulin being the second best captain in club history, whoever argues that I don't think they watched him, just my opinion. Hear about athletes being referred to all the time as warriors, well without severing people's heads off on a battlefield, Poulin is about as close to that as you'll get in sports.

Bill,

What are your thoughts on adding Ryan Parent for additional depth?

Thoughts on Cheechoo for a swing forward to pop in 10-15 goals?

Rusty Fedotenko is another good example of a guy the Flyers signed as a free agent that had a solid NHL career

Well first of all, they don't need Ryan Parent. What they have is already better. And Parent signed to play over in Germany. And Cheechoo isn't a player you want playing in the 3rd or 4th line. So no go to both,

If you want to remain anonymous, better discretion is required. We now know your first name is Bill.

Edit: seems someone beat me to the joke

As a former financial writer, I appreciate the difficulty in coming up with new topics. I think it is a tribute to Bill how he posts here everyday. His passion for the sport as well as knowledge of its history create a literary treat for us. Honestly, I havent seen much in the sports press that is close. I guess Kiper with the draft, but he is a little too obnoxious.

In terms of repition, Most likely some of the concepts are similar.

Yo Bill, If you're going to give credit for honorable mention, I'd consider Ron Flockhart over Read. Flockey Hockey had a brief, yet pretty exciting and productive two years for the O&B racking up 33 G (73 Pts) and 29 G (60 Pts) in consecutive seasons. Read's body of work has yet to play out.

Read should surpass Flockhart's numbers but as of right now it's still early.

However, my #1 HM would've gone to Orest Kindrachuk over both (provided he fits into your parameters)

Along with sharp, i'd say gange and richards as forwards, pitkanen and seidenberg on d and boucher in goal.

Every team can make a list like this though.

Kings gave up on Purcell, Moulson, Boyle etc
