Minor leaguers Mike Zigomanis, Will Acton and Dylan Yeo, who signed in the last few weeks, also do not count towards the limit since the contracts they signed were AHL-only deals. If the Leafs wanted to call any of them up, they would have to sign them to a pro deal and have a spot open for them under the 50 man limit.

sucks for Zigomanis

I am really starting to think there will be a lockout. If we missed a whole season and they used the same drafting rules as '04 we could be in line for McKinnon (referring to the no playoffs for the longest amount of time); that's how Pittsburgh got Crosby. That could be another similarity between the two.

This may not be the year for going to the max. I heard an interview, with Elliot Freedman, from Hockey Night In Canada, on the CBC National News tonight. He was saying that he is a pessimist, thinking that there was going to be a hockey lockout, on September 15th. He was saying that the Owners are not on the same page with one another. If that's the case, then there will be no labour peace. He also had a clip of Donald Fehr and he's advocating more revenue sharing, in the next CBA. So I guess that means higher ticket prices for the Canadian teams, so we can keep supporting the Nashville's, Pheonix's and Florida's of the world. If anything, they should cut revenue sharing and allow teams to either move, or fold. As a Leafs fan, I'm tired of our franchise propping up half of the NHL. More revenue sharing is a non starter for me!

Did you see the interview with Mansbridge tonight? Some of those clips made it look like we aren't seeing NHL hockey for a while. The owners are in some sort of Civil War and until they have a concensus, how can they negotiate with the NHLPA?

Agreed. The should just get rid of the bottom four to six teams, revenue wise, and either move them to a market that can support them or have a dispersal draft and get rid of them all together and then get rid of the salary cap

I really don't think Nashville should be lumped into the "have not" group. Phoenix, Florida, NJ, Columbus definetely. NYI, Dallas, and Anaheim sure, but not the Predators. I am starting to expect a lockout until December because so many owners don't care about the first 2 months. As ridiculous as it is I think revenue sharing will continue and may increase (Canadian ticket prices will increase anyway).

It does seem unfair that the highest revenue markets aren't allowed to take advantage of their earnings. Revenue sharing will remain but if a team puts into the RS pot they should also get something out of it....like a higher salary cap. Works for the Yanks.

I'm for a cap, but want a scaleback of Revenue Sharing. They also need to do something about the frontloaded, long term contracts. If they don't, it's status quo. Of course the Rangers and Flyers would love that. There is no fairness there.

I think the cap and revenue sharing go hand in hand. Teams need revenue sharing to reach the cap floor. As much as I like the idea of relocation or contraction it is not something that the league would allow before exhausting all other options.

I think it's one thing all 7 team's fanbases can agree on, we're all sick of supporting the coyotes, islanders, Devils and Stars of the league. I mean buck up and move them or fold a couple teams. Winnipeg and Quebec didn't get all these chances to save their struggling franchises 15 years ago
